The natural structure of bamboo makes it with good mechanical properties, hollow structure makes it with strong bending resistance and the node make it have strong capacity to resist lateral pressure. But a lot of cutting and crushing process are used in traditional processing and utilization of bamboo. The natural hollow and compartment structure and its good mechanical properties are destroyed to seek using of the solid bamboo wall. On the basis of not destroying the natural structure of bamboo, splice the bamboo into bamboo spliced board after they having sample molding process."Using hollow instead of entity" can improve utilization and make full use of bamboo good mechanical properties.This thesis studied the molding processing technology of small diameter bamboo, including the following three aspects. Firstly, the effects of the four-prism forming on the mechanical properties of small diameter bamboo were tested, and it was feasible to splice hollow and wide board with the formed four-prism bamboo sections. Secondly, finite element analysis for the bamboo sections loaded with pressure and bending were simulated to investigate the breaking modus of the pressed and the bended bamboo four-prisms. Finally, several processes for the small diameter bamboo shaping were compared, existing problems were analyzed, a broaching process was advanced, a new broaching technology and a forming tool were developed for small diameter bamboo forming, and the broaching process was tested.Following conclusions are obtained by the research:(1) After molding process, the radial compression capacity and the bending resistance of bamboo stalks decreased with small range; On the contrary, the radial compression capacity of bamboo node was improved.(2) Simulated the stress-strain distribution of bamboo which was in radial compression and longitudinal bending and pre-tested parts of the damage by using ANSYS software, the pre-tested result was almost the same with the experiment.(3) Because the broaching forming process developed in the thesis has high production, good product quality and low energy consumption, it will have a good development prospect.(4) Broaching and the straighten circular sawing are feasible for the small diameter bamboo forming.
