Enshi tobacco-growing areas located in Qingjiang river, hubei province, and Lichuan is the largest producing areas. This study was carried out in Lichuan,Enshi autonomous prefecture.Through investigating the main cultivars in Enshi, and on this basis, studyed and discussed the effect of nitrogen rates and leaves of tobacco remained on yield and quality of different flue-cured tobacco varieties. To provide the technical and theoretical support for introducing and promoting the characteristic tobacco varieties, formulate cultivation measures of field management and production distribution in Lichuan. The main results were as following:1.The conventional nitrogen rate was 100.0~120.0kg/hm2, the numbers of leaves remained was about 21 in Enshi tobacco areas.Under this condition, the content of reducing sugarand total sugar of tobacco leaves was high, the total alkaloids and the ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine was suitable. The tobacco leaves had good maturity, orange color, medium body, thin structure and outstanding sweet style, fine aroma quality , adequate amount of aroma .2.The nitrogen rate and numbers of leaves remained had great effect on the yield and quality of K326. When the nitrogen application rate was 90~135kg/hm2,number of leaves remained was 22 of one tobacco plant , the tobacco growth well, maturity of tobacco leaves was better and economic benefit was fine. The content of chemical components was suitable of middle tobacco leaves, but the reducing sugar, total sugar and the ratio of sugar to nicotine was lower, the total alkaloids and nitrogen was higher compared with the quality of conventional tobacco leaves.3.The nitrogen rate and numbers of leaves remained had significant effect on the yield and quality of Honghuadajinyuan. The best agronomical character and value character was found at 45~90 kg/hm2 nitrogen fertilization and 18 leaves pre one tobacco, and the scale of comprehensive evaluation of the appearance quality were higher. However, compared with the conventional leaves quality, the soluble sugar was higher in middle leaves.4.The nitrogen application rate and numbers of leaves remained had certain effect on the yield and quality of Zhongyan100. The growth, output value ,yield ,high class leaf rate of tobacco leaves was better than the other treatments under the circumstances of nitrogen application rate was 90kg/hm2,number of leaves remained was 22.The reducing sugar, total sugar ,the ratio of sugar to nicotine and the ratio nicotine to alkaloids was lower, the total alkaloids and nitrogen was higher compared with the quality of conventional tobacco leaves.5.The effect of nitrogen application rate and numbers of leaves remained on yield and quality had significant differences among different flue-cured tobacco varieties. The differences of most target of agronomical and value character among different flue-cured tobacco varieties were significant. The differences of chemical components were significant among the three flue-cured tobacco varieties in middle tobacco leaves except total alkaloids;the aroma and uncomfortable smell were not significant in middle leaves.
