This test made use of the nature rain in the experiment farmland of Henan agriculture university and Xiping country from 2004 to 2005, adopted flat planting, flat and straw mulch planting, bed-plantingand bed and srtraw mulch planting by the field experiments,study on the physiological and ecological effec- ts in the winter wheat-summer maize under the ditch and ridge changed with each oth- er,the main conclusion is as follows:Firstly, under straw mulch planting,winter wheat and summer maize,the seedling time of wheat and summer corn was made davance 1~2ds and the growth period was prolonged 1~3ds compared to flat planting.Secondly, tiller numbers and secondary root numbers of winter wheat under ridge-straw mulch were the highest before heading stage, from that flat-straw mulch planting was the highest; roots layer numbers and root numbers of summer maize under ridge-straw mulch were the highest, flat planting were the lowest, and made significant or more significant difference. Wheat and maize's stalk diameter were the biggest under ridge-straw mulch, Wheat's of flat planting spike numbers per unit area, leaf area index and dry matter yield were the highest, and ridge planting's were the lowest, ridge-straw mulch planting maize's spike numbers per unit area, leaf area index and dry matter yield were the highest, and flat planting's were the lowest, and made significant difference among them.Thirdly, the process of the increase of wheat and maize's weight presented a shape of "S".wheat's weight of ridge-straw mulch was the highest during the earlier growth period, from that flat-straw mulch's was the highest. Wheat's roots activity were decen -dented with the growth progress, and ridge-straw mulch planting's was the highest, flat plan- ting was the lowest.maize's bleeding sap amount showed a sigle peak curve,the peak val- lue is 12-leaf stage, and ridge-straw mulch's root activity was the highest, flat planting's was the lowest, and made significant among them. wheat and mai- ze's water loss rate difference were obvious in the later 12h, when wheat and maize suffers the dry threatenning,flat planting's water loss rate was obviou sly higher...
