Tubers,minitubers and in vitro propagated plantlets of 2 potato cultivars were radiated by 60Co-γray ,rays to study the radiation effects on the sprouting of tubers and minitubers,plant height,root growth,variation of agronomy characters,the radiosensitivities and mutation rate.The radiation on tubers and minitubers contained 8 degrees as followings:0,2,10,20,40,50,100,200,400Gy.The radiation on in vitro propagated plantlets contained10 degrees as followings:2,5,7,10,15,20,25,30,40,50Gy.Bycomparing and observing all the groups in the lab and field,the results as followings:The sprouting of tubers and the growth of seedling were significantly effected by Irradiation.20 40Gy dose of irradiation have had some positive effects.At 50Gy,the emergences are seldom.At 100Gy,200Gy and 400Gy,Tuber emergence ability were lost.At the doses lower than 20Gy,the growth of seedling had no distinct difference with control,however,the doses higher than 40 of irradiation have had negative effects.The irradiation effects on sprouting and the seedling growth of minitubers are also obvious.The radiated minitubers had emergence time delayed.At 50Gy,the emergences were seldom.At 100Gy,200Gy and 400Gy,no sprout at a11.the growth of minituber seedling Was significantly effected by Irradiation.Compared with control,the average plant height and root length were decreased.There are some variations of agronomy characters on radiated plant The variation peak is around 20Gy.There are no variations at 50Gy and higher doses.After irradiation,the growth of in vitro propagated plantlets have changed a lot.The doses lower than 15Gy have had positive effects on the plantlet growth.There were negative effects if the dose is higher than 15Gy.The growth stopped at 25Gy and higher doses . The radiated plantlet had some variation of agronomy character.The varimion peak is around 20Gy and there is no variation at 40Gy and higher doses.The optimal dose to tubers is between 20 40Gy,to minituber is between 10 20Gy,to in vitro propagated plantlets is between 5 15Gy.The semi-lethal dose oftubers and minitubers is between 40Gy and 50Gy and the lethal dose is 100Gy.
