Aridity is one of the worldwide problems, which is a key factor limit the entironment construction and economy development in Xinjiang. It is play an important part in soil moisture monitoring in arid region. We can acquire diversified information on the large scale rapidly and dynamically by using remote sensing image, so we can offer the technique support and production precision assurance for the soil moisture monitoring.In this research, by using MODIS image data from March to September since 2003 to 2005, conbined with the real-measured data, compared with the thermal inertia model, built the corrected thermal inertia model by using NDVI, in order to obtain a certain degree precision, we adjust the parameter, and calculate the soil moisture of 2003 to 2005 by using this model, distill data from the image, analysis these data with the real-measured data by using correlation, and the result is remarkable. So we got a method in real-time monitoring and inverse suited in Xinjiang region on soil moisture, which establish a foundation for the soil moisture real-time monitoring in Xinjiang.By this issue, we conclude that the information can be obtained fast and dynamic on a large scale from the MODIS image data, so it can be a foundation to the soil moisture real time monitoring and a series of agricultural manufacture such as fight a drought, and the result of this research has applied in the soil moisture monitoring actually.
