The natural forests are the main forest resources. It plays an irreplaceable role in the maintenance of ecological balance and improving the quality of the environment and the conservation of biological diversity. In the restrictions on harvesting area of the natural forest and Integrated management district, It is not only the primary issue to study the forest structure for maintenance and restoration of ecosystem health and stability, but also the basis of sustainable forest management techniques. The research object is the Pinus tabulaeformis mixed stands of coniferous and broad-leaved trees in over-logged forest, which lies in Caijiachuan Farm, Huanglong Mountain Forest Bureau, Shanxi Province. It research the forest structural characteristics from the threefold:Stand structure ---- with species composition and diameter distribution for the statistical attributes of the representative character, the results indicate the types of research demonstration zone stand diameter distribution consistent with the fundamental characteristics of the uneven-aged stands diameter structure. In contrast, the fitting resultslists of using negative index diameter distribution in fitting the diameter distribution is better than that of the function of Weibull distribution.Tree spatial structure– Using the mingling, neighborhood comparison and neighborhood pattern as the indicators spatial structure to describe the structure of the single tree. Research shows the neighborhood pattern of the stand is 0.42, which shows the distribution of tree position in this stand type is random distribution. the average mingling in the stand is 0.48, which indicates the stand has the less moderate mixed degree; Pinus tabulaeformis and Quercus liaotungensisKoidz. are dominant at DBH neighborhood comparison and height neighborhood comparison. It has the stronger consistency in reflecting the growth advantage between reference tree and adjacent tree.Stand regeneration study -- Compared the condition of regeneration in gaps and beneath taller...
