Ecological Strategies Of Musk Deer Breeding-house Design In Sichuan Academe Of Musk Deer Breeding

Manual breeding of musk deer is an important way to protect the resources of wild musk deer and natural musk. The fields for manual breeding of musk deer is a place in which could not only feed musk deer, but also produce musk. The design of it is the key issue of the health of musk deer, and in favor of the convenience and economy in management of breeding.From 2000 to 2005, the author was invited to design the manual breeding houses of the breeding fields in Ma'erkang by Sichuan academe of musk deer breeding. Through the conversation with feeders, investigation of the climate, structural materials, Survival behaviour ,mordern ecological design idea and the existing houses, we accomplish to build the appropriate breeding houses.Many details were considered in this design, such as the selected site, the reasonable room partition and structure design, especially the living behaviors and activity of musk deer, the local weather and terrain, and utilization of local materials and recycled materials. The designed houses not only provided a good environment which fit the growth of musk deer, but minimized the impact on environment. The survival and reproduction of musk deer had validated this design. It is proved by the daily works that the design is more economical in management and energy consumption, and less labored.The author concluded reasonable patterns for musk deer breeding house design...
