In 2004 Chinese ministry of construction put forward an advice to establishing ecological garden city, which is a passing phase of ecological city. This advice will accelerate the construction step in China. However, one of the most important things among establishing ecological garden city is the construction of eco-green space system, which could promote the ecological balance of human environment.Urban ecological corridor is an important part of urban eco-green space system. A perfect net of urban ecological corridor could not only improve urban ecological environment, but also provide good living environment for inhabitant. First of all, based on the definition of ecological garden city, the paper dissertates on the correlative theory of it, and indicates that ecological garden city is transitional goal. Then it differentiates and analyzes the concepts between ecological garden city and other kinds of city in China. Second, the author defines the concept of urban ecological corridor, and puts forward the classification named"form-function"double series. Third, it sums up the correlative theory of urban ecological corridor planning, which will provide guidance for ecological corridor building. Fourth, the paper analyzes the planning method of urban ecological corridor, and puts forward its assessment index, distribution structure, planning program and building measures, all of which will play a role in the construction of urban ecological corridor in China.What's more, the author applies the planning method with the case of Ma Anshan. Based on the remote sensing data, relative information and field survey, the paper analyzes the actuality of urban ecological corridor in the built-up area of Ma Anshan. Presently, the actuality of urban ecological corridor in the built-up area shows"one ring-five axes-one belt". The distribution of the whole corridors is not uniformity, and mainly fastens on the Huashan district where the tract is mostly for inhabitation; with the contrast of little in Yushan district and Jin Jiazhuang district where the tract is mostly for industry. Now the better green road-side corridor mainly lies in Yu Shanhu Park around; as a result, it couldn't connect the whole city very well, and didn't make of a reasonable net of urban green road-side corridor. The two water systems named Cihu River and Yushan-Yongfeng River flow through the city zone, where the environment is poor. Except that the riverside of Yongfeng River has been set up a landscape greenbelt which could provide recreation for resident, Cihu River and Yushan River are lack of virescence, and their water quality is bad, because of passing through the industry area. As a result, they couldn't exert ecological and social benefit of river corridor. The area along the Changjiang River in Ma Anshan is mostly used for industry and farmland, so the virescence is little. Moreover, the protection forest along the river is not continuous. Therefore, it hasn't formed riverside landscape greenbelt, and is devoid of feature in riverside city.By analyzing the actuality of urban ecological corridor in the built-up area of Ma Anshan, the author puts forth an overall plan of urban ecological corridor in the built-up area, and the layout is"one core-two ring-five axes-five belt". The new overall plan will form a perfect net of urban ecological corridor, show the characteristic of riverside city very well, and create ecological, modern, and pleasant city image.
