| Many traits of Dorper sheep were studied in this paper, including appearance, grazing performance, growth rate, reproduction performance and so on. The result are as follows.(1) Appearence. There are two types of Dorper sheep, one is the black head Dorper, and the other is the white head Dorper. Either male or female are hornless. It had long head, broad forehead, strong nose, sharp mouth. Its neck is short and thicken, and The body shape makes the Dorper a good proposition for organic meat farming.(2) Grazing habits. Dorpers are none-selective grazers. 100% Yellow-corn straw can be used by Doper, 82% by Boer Goat, 85% by No-horn Doset.(3) Shedding Ability. Adulte Dorper shed every year form April to Novenmber. And new hair grow up from December to March of next year.(4) Biochemical and physiological index. The anus temperature of lamb is 40.2°C. youth and adult sheep is 39.5°C. The breath rate of lamb is 29 times·min-1. Youth and adult sheep is 12 times·min-1. The heart rate of lamb is 122 times·min-1. Youth and adult sheep is 100 times·min-1. The blood indexes of male and female are as follows.RBC:4.34×1012L-1/3.76×1012L-1;WBC:11.43×109L-1/10.48×109L-1;Hgb:124.25g·L-1/114.53g·L-1; Ca2+:5.58mmol·L-1/2.71mmol·L-1; TG:1.84mmol·L-1/2.09mmol·L-1; BUN:7.3 mmol·L-1/8.01mmol·L-1;ALB:27.3mmol·L-1/25.56mmol·L-1;GLO:45.6mmol·L-1/42.14mmol ?L-1; GLU:15.12 U·L-1/4.18 U·L-1.(5) Growth rates: Birth weights of lambs of Dorper rams are 5.0kg; Weaning weights are 40.5kg; Adult weights are 120.0kg; 0-3 months of age gains in excess are over 0.34kg per day. Birth weights of lambs of Dorper rams are 3.3kg; Weaning weights are 36.7kg; Adult weights are 85.0kg; 0-3 months of age gains in excess are over 0.295kg per day.(6) Dorpe ewes are in their puberty till 5 monthes old , and their body-weight are about 50kg. And the ewes are in their body maturation till 8—10 monthes old, while their body-weight are about 60kg. Oestrous cycle of Dorpe ewes is 17d. The gestation length approximately is 145152d. The number of ewes lambed per ewe joint average 1.77. Ratio of survived lambs are 95 percent. Ratio of survived single lambs are 100 percent.Dorper lams are in their puberty till 56 monthes old , and their body-weight are about 50—55kg. And the lams are in their body maturation till 1516 monthes old, while their body-weight are about 90kg. Ejaculatory amount of lambs is 0.3-3.5ml. And the ejaculatory amounts is 0.2ml in winter , which is the least in the year. The sperm is activest in autumn, while sperm density is highest in winter, it is about 3.0×1010ml-1.(7) Two alleles at the loci of Hb are found including HbA and HbB which composed three... |
