Dorper Sheep originated from south Africa was hybridized by Homed Dorset and Persian Blackhead, then cultivated as one meat sheep breed, which have many advantages such as high productivity, rapid growth, better body quality, strong adaptation, caring maternity, supreme skin, good resistance, obvious hybridization potencies, wide food etc. There are many sheep in our country, but some of them-local common breed, which need to be hybridized by excellent breed for their poor meat quality and low meat productivity. Since 2001 our country have imported Dorper Sheep and their embryos from Australia and achieved better effect after reproduction of purebred, embryo transplanting and hybridization improvement, however, nowadays quantities of Dorper Sheep in our country can not meet the demand of improving local breed.Xuzhou livestock station imported 46 white-head Dorper Sheep included 5 sires from West of Australia in October, 2004.During this period the adaptive survey had been made for two years. The result suggested that despite different area, soil and climate the growth properties of the introduced Dorper Sheep hardly changed and grew rapidly before September, especially obtained over 280 gram per day in 3months, possessed the character of strong adaptation, high resistance and speedy growth in nonage etc.Whereas reproducing properties of the imported Dorper Sheep obviously differed from original breed. The former reproduction bore the seasonal character, then the female adult naturally started the oestrus together with the fecundation rate at 87.8%,and the nulliparous sheep also behaved the law of the seasonal oestrus, one embryo per year with first kidling-birth rate at 115% and second at 120%.In addition the kidlet and the nulliparous sheep's ablactation surviving rate got up to 100%, otherwise they represented phenomenon of the seasonal moult.Additionally the male showed its blooming sexual desire and the strong ability of hybridize with high quality sperm continuously.
