Analysis Of Structure Characteristics And Driving Factors Of Development Of WeiTian In Southeastern Anhui Province Based On Landsat TM Data

Weitian (artificial field) is a kind of irrigation field peculiar to the south of Yangtze (Changjiang) River. Under the influence of the long and regular human exploitation, these artificial fields have acquired some characteristics of pattern and structure. Due to different natural and social environments, Weitian in various periods differ in pattern and structure. Previous researchers studied Weitian's formative background and social factors from the aspects of history, sociology and water conservancy, etc.Remote sensing data has the advantage of being macroscopic. The characteristic data of electromagnetic wave of surface object synthetically reflects natural and social information, which can get rid of some interfering factors for researchers. Based on Landsat TM remote sensing data, GIS technique, and historical geography analysis production, the research on Spatio-temporal structure characteristics of Weitian(artificial field) in Southeastern Anhui Province indicates that the spatial structure characteristics could be divided into four different categories: matrix pattern, polygon pattern, feather water-net pattern and rectangular pattern. Four patterns reflect the different nature and social conditions:â‘ a matrix pattern has a comprehensive function of defending, irrigating and transporting;â‘¡a polygon pattern has a function of combining and expanding;â‘¢a feather water-net pattern has a good function of buffer protection for the flood;â‘£a rectangular pattern has a function of convenience for the intensive mechanization of modern time. The temporal characteristics of these artificial fields fell into three phases: San GUO, the Song dynasty and modern times.
