Study On Correlations Between Fibre Diameter And Production Trait In Chinese Merino

The relationships between fibre diameter and fleece weight,liveweight,amount of staple waviness,staple strength and fibre length were studied with correlation analysis and regression analysis for superfine wool bloodline,fine wool bloodline and medium wool bloodline of Chinese merino,the results demonstrate:1.The fibre diameter has 0.204μm finer when amount of staple waviness has been increased one in Chinese Merino.It is also significantly negatively correlated (r=-0.317,p<0.01)between fibre diameter and amount of waviness in medium wool bloodline of Chinese Merino,but not significantly correlated(r=-0.130,p>0.05)in superfine wool bloodline and fine wool bloodline of Chinese Merino.2.It is not significantly correlated(♂:r=0.105,r=0.052,r=-0.107,p>0.05;♀:r=0.144,r=0.032, r=0.012,p>0.05)between fibre diameter and fibre length,fleece weight and liveweight in yearling superfine wool bloodline;Except that it is significantly positively correlated (♂:r=0.180,p<0.05;♀:r=0.159,p<0.05)between fibre diameter and fibre length,no any other significant correlations(fibre diameter and fleece weight/ liveweight,♂:r=0.089,r=0.019,p>0.05;♀:r=0.018,r=0.077,p>0.05)in yearling fine wool bloodline; It is not also significantly correlated(superfine wool bloodline, r=-0.216,r=-0.222,r=0.061,p>0.05;fine wool bloodline,r=-0.079,r=-0.069,r=0.025,p>0.05) between fibre diameter and fibre length,fleece weight and liveweight in 2-year-old sheep of superfine wool and fine wool bloodline.3.Fleece weight is significantly positively correlated(p<0.05)to liveweight and fibre length and that liveweight,fleece weight,and fibre length in yearling are significantly positively correlated(p<0.05)to liveweight and fibre length of weaning in superfine wool bloodline, fine wool bloodline and medium wool bloodline of Chinese Merino respectively.4.It is significantly different(p<0.05)in liveweight of weaning,fibre length of weaning, yearling liveweight,yearling fibre length and yearling fleece weight between superfine wool bloodline,fine wool bloodline and medium wool bloodline with the characteristic that these traits decreased when fibre diameter is finer,but the tendency disappears after 2 years old. v5.Staple strength is significantly positively correlated(average fibre diameter and absolute/relative strength,r=0.313,p<0.01;r=0.311,p<0.01,minimum fibre diameter and absolute/relative strength,r=0.360,p<0.01;r=0.391,p<0.01.)to average fibre diameter and minimum fibre diameter along staple and significantly negatively correlated (r=-0.179,p<0.05;r=-0.204,p<0.05)to variation of fibre diameter along staples and between fibres in Chinese Merino,Staple strength is significantly positively correlated (minimum fibre diameter and absolute/relative strength,r=0.245,p<0.05;r=0.294,p<0.01) to minimum fibre diameter along staple and relative staple strength is significantly negatively correlated(r=-0.255,p<0.05)to variation of fibre diameter along staples in fine wool bloodline,but no any significant correlations(p>0.05)in superfine wool bloodline.6.The fibre diameter shows a diminishing tendency from upper 1/3 of floccus to hair root along staple at the same year in superfine wool bloodline and fine wool bloodline of Chinese Merino,the minimum diameter locate at the lower 1/3 of staples,and the variation of fibre diameter along staple in superfine wool bloodline is lesser than that in fine wool bloodline.
