The effects of compound natural plant feed additives on broiler growth performance, carcass quality and meat quality were investigated. Two hundred forty healthy Avian broiler of the same-day-old were assigned randomly to either the compound natural plant extraction group(treatment)or the Zinc Bacitracin group (control)with four replications.Experiments of feed, slaughter toxicology, safety and analysis of meat quality were carried on each group. The results are as follows:(1)Average daily gain, feed:gain ratio, death rate of 0~15-day-old,16~30-day-old, 31~60 0~60-day-old were not significant compared to the control.(2)Difference of carcass quality between treatment and control was not observed.(3)Compared to the control pectoralis muscle, the physical and chemical characteristics(PH value, meat color, drip loss, tenderness)of treatment broilers were not different. The nutrition ingredients(water content, crude protein, crude lipid, crude ash)of pectoralis and leg muscle, the muscle fiber diameter are also not significant.(4)The toxicology and safety experiments indicated that the compound natural plant feed additives are safe and are not poisonous. The results obtained from this study demonstrated that,in the process of broiler production, the compound natural plant feed additives had similar functions compared with Western medicine on accelerating growth, enhancing the immunity, improving carcass quality and meat quality.
