100°C method which has been widely used in establishing wood drying schedules is advanced to some extent, however it can not meet the requirement for some wood species. Therefore, this paper proposed a new method to deal with establishing wood drying schedule based on wood properties.The new method has the potential of setting drying schedule for individual wood species based on their wood propertise. The researching results are listed as follow:a) Analysis between wood properties and drying schedule parameters of softwood, diffuse porous wood and ring-porous wood show that basic density played an important role in determination of wood drying schedules,. Meanwhile, relation equations between basic density and drying schedules parameters of softwood, diffuse porous wood and ring-porous wood were established by regression.b) Usually, the form of equations is like: wood drying paremeters=A×square of density+B X density +C. Wood drying schedules can be established according to the relation equations and IMC of wood.c) Experimental results show that, drying schedules established on wood properties was simpler, faster, and more accurate than that established by 100°C experiments, and time cost for establishment was just about 10% of 100°C experiments method. In addition, the schedules based on wood properties are much softer compared with that set by100°C experiments. Drying experiments on woods indicated that, schedules base on wood properties can obtain a great drying quality without defects.
