In this paper we use Asia white b\ich(Betula platyphylla Sw?)lumbers with thickness of 55mm as experimental wood, basing on lab condition, implement wood conventional drying experiments, explore the development and change law of wood drying stress and strain as long as it's influences on the wood drying control process, explore the characters of drying schedule which is used in automatic controlling process. All the work and experiments give the following results.In wood conventional drying process, the main reasons which cause wood dryjng check and distortion are drying stress and drying strains which are produced through the shrinkage differences on the thickness direction. Introducing the visco-elastic mechanics and the rheology theory into wood drying stress and strains research is a good way to describing the development mechanism of wood drying stress and drying strains. The automatic controlling process drying schedule which is used for Asia white birch lumbers with thickness of 55mm is applicable, by using this drying schedule, through experiments in automatic梒ontrolling experimental drying kiln, the resulting drying lumbers ' qualities reach GB'2梘rade and above.
