Xiao arrowroot(Calathea G.F.W.Mey) belongs to the family Marantaceae, one of important ornamental plants with plenty of varities and are favored in the market. The tendency of need for arrowroot is in the rise. At present, many species of arrowroot's production depend on import, which result in high price in the market. Therefore, it is important significance for groping for batch propagation technique and building up enlarging propagation system with high- efficiency. In this thesis, several experiments about tissue culture were conducted including different hormone concentration, ingredient of culture medium, and culture conditions with several excellent breeds of Calathea. as experimental materials. The conclusion as follows.(l)As experimental materials by bottle seeding of Calathea vandenhecki, two hormones of IAA and 6-BA with different concentration condition, positive mutual combination show that with MS culture medium, culture temperature 24-25℃,and 12h/d light, the combination of IAA0.5mg/l and 6-BA3mg/l urged for new shoot bourgeon to the best extend, and new shoot is very strong with large quantity and have not watershoot.(2)At the same time, other six species of Xiao arrowroot were inoculated on the culture medium, MS+IAA0.5mg/l +6-BA3 mg/l, the result indicated that Calathea roseo-picta grows best, Calanthea ornate cv. roseo-lineata and Calanthea zebrine is also well, but Calanthea rotundifolia cv. fasciata manifested growing stasis.(3)Application for four sorts culture mediums with different inorganic salts content including MS,B5,NN,and WHITE to Calanthea rotundifolia, no remarkable difference was founded. Furthermore, the study show that concentration of sucrose don't have positively effect on growth of tissue culture seeding.However, intension of light take an important function during growth of tissue culture seeding, between 2000lx and 1000lx intension, the former have remarkable effect on growth of tissue culture seeding of Calanthea rotundifolia, its effect embodied rapid growth and a large growing capacity. Among the length of light 12h/d, 14h/d and 16h/, the length 14h/d manifested that tissue culture seeding develop preferable, more strong, and have a visible capacity of growth.Moreover, appending active carbon have a remarkable effect on tissue culture seeding growth of Calanthea rotundifolia, and advanced its radication.(3)Concentration of IAA remarkably influenced radiation of Calanthea rotundifolia. The experiment respectively setting up for concentration of 0, lmg/l, 2 mg/l and 3 mg/l indicated that 2mg/l concentration of IAA grow well, have the most radiation and strong new radicles and have no watershoot.
