The Study Of Biomass And Ecosystem Services Value Of The Artificial Forest In Lanzhou South-north Hills

Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest ecosystem is important components of Lanzhou urban ecosystem, it has decisive influence on Lanzhou urban ecological environment.In this paper, the Volume-derived Biomass Method is used to estimate the total biomass of the South-north Hills artificial forest, analysis of the biomass distribution of different vegetation layers and species composition in South-north Hills is done. Based on this living total biomass, the total biomass of South-north Hills artificial forest is predicted after 10 years and 20 years. Furthermore, based on the methods of environmental economics such as market value method, shadow project, opportunity costs and materials replacement etc, the value of ecosystem services such as forest products, eco-tourism, C fixation and O₂ release, purifying air quality , erosion control, maintain biodiversity etc is assessed , the corresponding recommendations given . The results are as follows:1. The total biomass of South-north Hills artificial forest is 2232595.122t. Tree layer biomass is 1247070.404t, accounting for 55.857% of the total biomass of South-north Hills artificial forest; shrub layer biomass is 484744.524t, accounting for 21.712%; herb layer biomass is 381306.151t, accounting for 17.079% of the total biomass. Litter amount is 119474.043t, accounting for 5.351%.2. Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest biomass is 67.117t/hm², tree layer biomass is 38.163t/hm².3. It is very simple of species composition of Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest. Only 11 tree species are found in plots of Lanzhou South-north Hills. Platycladus orientalis is the main tree specie in Lanzhou South-north Hills, the individual number accounting for 66.858% of the total individual, biomass accounting for 60.719%.4. Biomass of more than 80% artificial forest in Lanzhou South-north Hills is below 50t/hm² . 5.10 years ,20 years later, tree layer total biomass of Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest is 2850321.193t, 3699709.838t, respectively.6. Ecosystem services value of Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest is 681.697×10⁶ yuan/year, accounting for 1.55% of GDP of Lanzhou City(2003 indicators). Ecosystem services value of unit area artificial forest is 22031.506 yuan/hm²/year.7. Ecosystem services value of forest products, eco-tourism, C fixation and O₂ release, purifying air quality , erosion control, maintain biodiversity of Lanzhou South-north Hills artificial forest is 9.474×10⁶yuan/year, 178.852×10⁶yuan/year, 361.399×10⁶yuan/year, 104.973×l0⁶yuan/year, 5.553×l0⁶yuan/year, 21.446×l0⁶ yuan/year ,respectively.
