As alternation of rice cropping system, cultivation modulation and climatic conditions, the field ecological environment is advantageous to grey plant hoppers survival. Rice stripedisease is one of the most important disaster ones in rice which causes great damage in thegrowth and yield of rice. The disease is caused by rice stripe virus which is transferred by avector, grey hopper(laodelphax striatellus). Recent years, the insect population growssuddenly in the early growing stage of rice. Meanwhile due to rice varieties renewedunceasingly, there are lacks of disease-resistant cultivars. In order to control rice stripedisease effectively and reduce the loss of rice output, the author has carried on a great dealof research and experiments in epidemiology of the disease and integration management incontrolling the disease from 2001. The control strategies on rice stripe disease are formedand assembled, such as postponing seedtime growing, popularizing machine for plantingrice, treating rice seed with insecticides, spraying pesticides in seedling stage, controllingpopulation of the second and third generation of grey hoppers in the field, etc. Greatbenefits were achieved by applications of those integration managements in the big area. In2005, the control effectiveness of grey plant hoppers and rice stripe disease are extremelyobvious compared with those without application of integration management.
