Poultry raising, more than 100 million birds each year, is an important industry for the farmers to get higher income in Huai'an. However, with the increase of the scale, more and more diseases, especially the colibacillosis, appear and bring heavy loss to the local economy, and this become a difficult problem to raisers. Avian's colibacillosis is a focus or systemic infectious disease, which is caused by E.coii ,with complicated antigens, multiple serotype and various clinical symptoms such as salpingitis, synovitis, and so on. Due to the disease universality and without effective the colibacillosis bacterin especially, raisers are used to abuse drug. It not only strengthens bacterial drug resistance but also forms druggery remain which could harms human health. In this paper, avian colibacillosis epidemiology and prevention and cure by Chinese herbal medicine are studied in order to master serogroup distribution of avian colibacillosis, drug resistance, and circs of using several complex prescription of autogenous bacteria and Chinese herbal medicine in Huai'an. It will present reference for controlling the disease effectively.Investigation on epidemiology: The sickness and death rate of avian colibacillosis is 26.4% and 13.1% in eight counties, Huai'an. It has obvious season and age difference, is higher in spring and winter, is lowest in summer and autumn; is higher befor 6 weeks.From 150 dead poultry which have representative colibacillosis at the veterinary station animal clinic in eight counties, Huai'an. 112 colibacillosis are separated and identified. There are 92 case-hardened and 24 serogroups which includes 20 O18 isolates, 14 O78 isolates, 11 O1 isolates,10 O5 isolates. The four serogroups colibacillosis take the percentage 60% of 92 isolates, and are predominant serogroups in Huai'an, moreover, O2,O88,O4, O115,O9,O11,O15,O26,O81,O157,O7,O27,O33,O37,O60,O70,O87,O93,O100,O154 are also detected.Antibiotic susceptibility shows that colibacillosis separated have higher drug resistance to Fluoroquinolones, Sulfamethoxazole, Trimethoprim-sulfamethpxazole, Tetracycline, Ampicillin, Amoxilline, and also definite character to Gentamicin, Kanamycin, Cetemezin, however, it has only 3~16.3% percentage of drug resistance to Cefalexin, Amikacin, Amoxilline-clavulanic acid, Florfenicol and Phosphonomycin. The integrated control: Morbidity of layers decreased from 19.5% to 8.1%, morbidity of broilers decreased from 24% to 9.5% ,the death rate of layers decreased from7.6% to 4.2%, the death rate of broilers decreased from 9.5% to 4.8% after using autogenous bacterin. About the prevention and cure of Chinese herbal medicine, it can defend avian colibacillosis, the protection percentage can get 97.8%, the cure percentage can win 78.2%, it show the great foreground of the prevention of Chinese herbal medicine against avian colibacillosis. It is fairly good to use autogenous bacterin with synthesized preventive measures in large poultry farms, but it is diffcult to application and dissemination. It is satisfactory to use Chinese herbal medicine with synthesized preventive measures in all the poultry farm.
