Myostatin (MSTN) has been considered as an important regulating factor of cell growth, and played as a negative regulator of muscle growth. The main goal of the present study was to investigate the population genetic analysis in Jinghai Yellow chicken using PCR-SSCP and PCR product sequencing of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of Myostatin and to study their association with some phenotypic characters, such as body weight at every week, live weight, dressing weight, semi-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, breast muscle weight, thigh weight, talon weight. The results were as follows:1 Three genotypes AA,BB,AB were found in PCR product by two primers of Myostatin. And the distributions of three genotypes were in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium statuses, revealing that the distribution of MSTN genetypes in Jinghai Yellow chicken were in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium.2 The automated sequencing using SSCP-PCR technology indicated that single nucleotide loci mutations were G→A at 1374 bp position in exon 1st for primer 1 and C→T at 440bp site of code sequence in exon 2ed for primer 3.3 The statistical analysis of the correlation between all genotypes in exon 1st for primer 1 of Myostatin with growth traits in Jinghai Yellow chicken showed that B gene maybe with positive correlation to body weight at every week.4 The statistical analysis of the correlation between all genotypes in exon 1st for primer 1 of Myostatin with slaughter traits in Jinghai Yellow chicken showed that B gene maybe with positive correlation to dressing weight, semi-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, breast muscle weight, thigh weight, talon weight.5 The statistical analysis of the correlation between all genotypes in exon 2ed for primer 3 of Myostatin with growth traits in Jinghai Yellow chicken showed that B gene maybe with positive correlation to body weight at every week.6 The statistical analysis of the correlation between all genotypes in exon 2ed for primer 3 of Myostatin with slaughter traits in Jinghai Yellow chicken showed that B gene maybe with positive correlation to every slaughter characters.
