These characters including data heterogeneous, data separation and data independence ofspatial vector data for forestry resources bring forward a difficult for forestry management. Tosolve the problem this study analyzed the root of this problem, referenced researches and hightechnique around the world, gave a method on how to integrate data through different datasources which maintain the data integrality and consistency, besides, conceal the difference ofthese data, provide an uniform and transparent data access interface. The study designed ascalable five layers management and service framework for forestry spatial vector data, whichbased on the mediator mode, using GML criterion and Web Service to afford its service.The paper first summarized the characteristic of forestry spatial vector data, and thepresent research status of data management and application for forestry resources, as well ascurrent deficiency, then analyzed many cases of studies on spatial vector data management andrelatives techniques both in china and in foreign countries, including management andintegration of heterogeneous spatial data, format conversion of spatial data, data servicetechnique, on these basis, the service structure was designed.The study adopted the mediator/wrapper mode as integration mode for its modularizationand its high scalability; probed into the Web Services technique, using its service technologyboth interior and exterior to integrate with the mediator/wrapper mode. Through study theGML criterion and technique, adopted GML as a criterion of data transmission format andcurrency data format in the framework. Furthermore, a system structure of spatial vector datamanagement and service was designed, which includes five layers: data layer, mediator layer,sub-service layer, service layer and application layer.The study gave detailed designing of the function of spatial vector data management andservice for forestry resources, put emphases on the structure and characteristic of wrapper,mediator, sub-service module and service integration module, etc.This study designed the application module of spatial vector data management and servicestructure, moreover, gave some instances of the traditional application module based on C/Sstructure, intelligent client application module, the monolayer and multilayer application module based on the B/S structure.On the basis of spatial vector data management and service structure of forestry resources,keep to the principle of system designing, achieved to accomplish the system structuredesigning and function module.This paper integrated the data integration management method of mediator/wrapper modeof Web Services technique and GML application mode, used in forestry application, tries tomake little contribution to forestry data management.
