Forage has a short growth period in Tibet because the nature condition is rigor and altitude is high. there are a few of forage varieties suitable for artificial planting,especially in annual forage ,and the yield and quality differ greatly as the cultivation techonology change even if the varieties are suitable. This experimental research were conducted from April to August in 2007 to study the effect of common vetch - gramineous forage mixture at farms of Shangnan grass station in Tibet to grope for the suitable mixture technology of annual forage.The experiments consisted of three parts for the representation of the climate in agricultural areas of Tibet:(1) The mixing cultivation experiment were conducted in the field with common vetch and oat or local spring barley;(2). yield and quality and the effect on soil nutrition change of the common vetch(Vicia Sativa L.cv)–oat(Avena sativa L.cv) mixing at different seeding ratio were determined ;(3). yield and quality the effect on soil nutrition of common vetch–spring barley(Hordeum Vulgare L.cv) mixing at different seeding ratio were determined and analyzedUsing common vetch,oat and spring barley as the experimental materials and randomized block design,the ten pasture planting model(V:100%vicia+0% Avena;VH1:70%vicia+30% Avena;VH2:50%vicia+50% Avena;VH3:30% vicia+70% Avena;H:0% vicia +100% Avena;V:100%vicia+0% Hordeum;VH1:70%vicia+30%Hordeum;VH2:50%vicia+50%Hordeum;VH3:30%vicia+70%Hordeum;H:0% vicia +100% Hordeum) were studied in this paper.Data on plant height,yield,quality and change of soil nutrition content were collected and analyzed by means of multiple comparison and regression analysis so as to probe into the most suitable ratio of common vetch and oat or spring barley mixture aiming at the study of related theory and technology in order to provide a scientific basis for the construction of mixed–pasture,and then serve the forage production of the local and the simular areas in Tibet.The main result were as followings:1. An average dry weight of common vetch+spring barley among the treatments is higher 27.83 percent than common vetch+oat because spring barley has lower seed yield and leaf/stem ratio in the fresh and dry state (1.7:1).2.The dry weight of VH3 is highest among the treatments,and the yield of hay increased with the addition of gramineous grass ratio in mixture. It illustrated that gramineous grass plays a main role in the mixture yield.3.Qulatity of VA1 is the best among the treatments ,because it has a highest content of crude protein (10.48%)and ether extract(3.38%) ,on the other hand,it has a lowest content of Neutral Detergent Fiber (53.8%)and acid detergent fiber(26.66%).4. There were significant differences in the content of crude protein (CP), ether extract(EE), Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF),Ca and P among the different treatments(P<0.05);As the rate of common vetch increased, the content of CP, EE, Ca and P increased, but the content of NDF and ADF decreased. It illuatrates that mixture improved the qulatiy of forage.5. The content of organic matter ,total nitrogen and available potassium mixted sowing increased 0.95%~7.7%,5.1%~32.46% and 1.2%~26.33% respectively as to make the soil fertility been rised and the extent of addition is correlate with the ratio of common vetch among the mixture.6. To get a higher dry matter yield and a better qulatity, 50% common vetch+50% gramineous forage is the best ratio among the different mixtures under the same condition,because it has not only a higher forage yield but also higher contents of crude protein (CP), ether extract(EE), Ca ,P ., lower contents of Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF) among the different treats and the ratio between Ca and P is nearly 3∶1 as compared to the contrast.7.This ratio could be recommended to be popularized in the Shannan and similar areas in Tibet .
