Productivity, qualitative character and photosynthetic character were analyzed to evaluate their compositive performance of fifteen alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) varieties at DaQi the Inner Mongolia Grassland Research Station of the Grassland Research Institute of the Chinese agriculture academy of sciences between 2004 and 2006. There were six results.1. WL323, Zaodong, Ameri Stand 201, Longmu801, 8925MF and Affinity not only had large crown deeply root systems, large crown constriction and fast crown increase rate, but also had abundant store nutrition matter and good power of overwintering regrowth. Overwintering rate between crown constrition, crown increase and crown store TNC had the most significantly positive correlations. Overwintering rate and branch number had more significantly positive correlations.2. With high regrowth performance of Alfalfa varieties had fast regrowth speed, high regrowth intensity and large regrowth yield, also it had high crown store TNC. Ameri Stand 201, Gannong No.3 , Longmu801, 8925MF, Affinity, WL323 and Zaodong had good regrowth performance, Vernal, Aohan, Debo and Archer had bad regrowth performance.3. Biomass yield between plant height, weight per plant, branch number, stem diameter, stem length and length per branch had the most significantly positive correlations, it also had more significantly positive correlation with diameter per brand. Relational grade analysis of grey system was used to study the productive performance of 15 alfalfa cultivars. The results showed that stem diameter had the highest effect on yield, and crown diatemer and lengh of stem nodes had the least effect. There were four kinds through relational grade analysis of grey system to evaluate their productive performance. Ameri Stand 201, WL323, 8925MF, Affinity and Longmu801 had superior produce performance, but Vernal and Debo had bad produce performance.4. Total nutrition of the first cutting was superior to the second cutting. The correlation analysis results of showed that CF, NDF and ADF were leading restrictive genes to effect CP. Dry matter had the most positive correction coefficient, Ca and NFE were second. CP between plant height, branch number, stem diameter, stem length, stem/leaf ratio and fresh/dry ratio had the most significantly negative correlations. Forage yield between CP, NFE,Ca, dry matter and digestibility had more significantly positive correlations, but it between CF, NDF, ADF, fresh/dry ratio and stem/leaf ratio had more significantly negative correlations, and it had faint correlations with EE, CASH and P. There were four kinds through evaluating 15 alfalfa cultivars qualitative character. Longmu801 and 8925MF had good quality, but Algonquin, Vernal and Aohan had bad quality.5. WUE had the obvious effect on Pn, E was the second, and Gs was the third negative contribution, but Ci had the least effect on Pn. Forage yield between Pn and WUE had the most significantly positive correlations, but Ci and forage yield had the more significantly negative correlation. There were four kinds by evaluating 15 alfalfa cultivatars photosynthetic charater. WL323, Zaodong and 8925MF had good behave, but Vernal, Archer and Aohan had bad behave.6. The grey correlation value of each trait in turn was Ca>NFE>dry mstter>regrowth intensity>Overwintering rate>CP>fresh/dry ratio>CF>ADF>stem/leaf ratio> regrowth speed > digestibility >WUE>Pn> stem length > plant height > stem diameter >NDF>dry yield> weight per branch > branch number. There were three kinds of comprehensive evaluation on these alfalfa cultivars.WL323, Ameri Stand 201, 8925MF, Longmu801, Aiffinity and Zaodong were good comprehensive performance, Algonquin, Archer, Aohan, Vernal and Debo were bad comprehensive performance, and American Alfaking's, Gannong No.3 , Zhongmu No.1 and Zhungeer were ecumenic comprehensive performance.
