Methods and objective: By routine anatomical histological and immunohistochemical methods, the distribution of six brain-gut peptides in the digestive tract and brain of Schizothorax Prenanti was studied in order to investigate the ditribution characteristics of these peptides and their physiological functions, provide reference information for its culture and digestive and nueral physiology, and then accumulate research information about fish histology physiology neuroendocrinolgy and related disciplines.Result: The distribution density ofβ-endorphin(β-EP) positive cells was higher in the foregut, lower in the midgut.β-EP positive cells and fibers were located in the diencephalons, mesencephalon and cerebellum.Gastrin(Gas) positive cells were only a few distributed in the foregut;Gas positive cells and fibers were distributed in the telencephalon, diencephalon, mesencephalon,cerebellum and medullaoblonggata. Neuropeptide Y(NPY) positive cells in the foregut were more than in the midgut. NPY positive cells and fibers were observed in the telencephalon and diencephalon. The distribution density of somatostatin(Som) positive cells was highest in the foregut, lower in the midgut, lowest in the hindgut; Som positive cells and fibers were found in the telencephalon, diencephalon, mesencephalon, cerebellum and medullaoblonggata. Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) positive cells were only detected in the foregut; VIP positive cells and fibers were distributed in the telencephalon, diencephalon, mesencephalon and cerebellum. 5- hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) positive cells were highest distribution density in the foregut, lower in the midgut, lowest in the indgut. 5-HT positive cells and fibers were appeared in the telencephalon, diencephalon, mesencephalon, cerebellum and medullaoblonggata.Conclusion: These brain-gut peptides were distributed the digestive tract and brain of Schizothorax Prenanti, and have different distribution characteristics. The distribution of brain-gut peptides in the digestive tract are related to the feedinghabits and intestine structures. The distribution of stimulative peptides are roughly corresponding with inhibitory peptides.These may regulate and control the digestive function. The distribution of these peptides in the brain shows that they regulate a lot of functions on the level of central nervous system.
