Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) is one of most important insect pest of forest, which caused a serious economic loss of forest industry in our country. It is diffcult to study and to control of this species because of immature stages are sequestered in the wood. Adults is exposed to wild to eat and copulate, and it is a key period to be prevented and researched. Procreation is the foundation of multiplication, so if we can destroy the procreation of insects and we will control pests efficiently. In this research, we studied the behavior responses of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) on different plants(brier, Broussonetia papyrifera(L.), salicylic and Vent Populus deltoides cv.) at first. In the foundation of them we studied the live, the activity of enzymes and the synthesis of vitellin after they were feeded with different plants. It can help us to realize the behavior to inquilinous plants of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope), and it can also offer some help in preventing and curing adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope). The main results as follows:1. The effect on the behavior of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plantsThe behavior responses of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were tested indoor by the Y olfaction instrument. Unmated male and female, mated male and female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) had an obvious orientation response to brier compared with distilled water; both unmated and mated female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were allured to brier compared with Vent Populus deltoides cv., and the difference got terribly notability; unmated-male, mated male and female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were allured to salicylic compared with Vent Populus deltoides cv., and the differences got notability; unmated male adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were allured to Vent Populus deltoides cv. compared with Broussonetia papyrifera(L.), and the differences got notability; mated female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were allured to salicylic compared with Broussonetia papyrifera(L.), and the differences got notability; and others had no difference.2. The effect on the activity of enzymes of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plants The feeding, the life, and the oviposition of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were tested indoor after they were feeded with different plants. When they ate brier as their supplementary food, the areas of cortex they ate were about 15cm~2 a day and 175 cm~2 a life in average, and they could live 31 days and oviposit 33 eggs in average. When they were feeded with salicylic, Vent Populus deltoides cv. and Broussonetia papyrifera(L.) which their adults weren't like to eat but their larvas liked to, their longevity were one to fifth and their amount of feeding were one percent of that feded with brier. The effect on the activity of detoxication enzymes of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plants were studied. When they were feeded with four plants 24h later and 48h later, the highest activity of carboxylesterase were both of that feeded with salicylic, and 72h later the highest activity of carboxylesterase was that feeded with Vent Populus deltoides cv.. The one feeded with brier had a low lever at all times. The activity of glutathione-s-transferase from high to low were that feeded with Vent Populus deltoides cv., Broussonetia papyrifera(L.), brier and salicylic 72h later. The former three were obviors higher than that feeded with salicylic. The activity of glutathione-s-transferase in other treated times hadn't have obvious difference. Both the activity of carboxylesterase and glutathione-s-transferase were ascend at first and then decend for entire time. The effect on the activity of protective enzymes of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plants were studied. The activity of superoxide dismutase kept ascend at first then dropped and then went up at last. And they all nearlly got highest at 120h. The activity of catalase kept ascend at first and then dropped, and they mostly got highest at72h. The activity of two enzymes which feeded with brier were obviously lower than other three ones on the whole at the same treated time. The effect on the activity of digestive enzymes of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plants were studied. The activity of amylase and lipase were both kept decline continually from 24h. The activity of protease kept ascend to top at 48h and then dropped continually. The activiy of digestive enzymes which feeded with brier was the highest almost at the four.3. The effect on the procreation of adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) of different plantsThe vitellin of Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) was separated and sublimated by the method of distilled water deposition. It consists of five subunits with molecular weight of about 108 kD, 105kD, 102kD,83 kD and 78kD respectively. The content of vitellin of female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) were mensuratedby the method of Protein A Sandwich-ELISA after they were feeded with different plants. The female adults Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) hadn't have vitellin after they were feeded with Vent Populus deltoides cv. at all treated times and salicylic at 24h. And they had vitellin after they were feeded with brier, Broussonetia papyrifera(L.) at at all treated times and salicylic 24h later. The content of vitellin went ascend to top and then dropped, and the top content of vitellin at 72h, 96 and 120h respectively.
