| Rice is a very classic mode plant, and its genome sequencing has completed. Asthe most important crop, rice is also the staple food for about half population of theworld. In the past century, many breeders focused on efforts to improve the yield ofrice as the increasing of the population. They made a great success. Yet, what peopleneeded is not only the abundance of food but also the quality, so a few breeders andscientists started to improve rice quality include milling quality, grain quality, nutrientquality, eating and cooking quality in end of last century.In this study, the population that consisted of 188 recombinant inbred lines (RIL)derived from the cross between Zhenshan 97 and Delong 208, was using to detectQTLs for the texture (include hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, springiness andresilience) and cooking quality (include WA, CRE and VE) of rice. The object was toprobe into the relationship of the texture and other physical and chemicalcharacteristics of rice on the basis of genetics. And the main results were as follows:1. Texture of cooked rice: Hardness: Three QTLs were detected in 2003,respectively located on the chromosome 6, 10and 11, and the LOD threshold were8.70, 2.76, 3.21, respectively. Three QTLs were detected in 2004, respectively locatedon the chromosome 6, 10and 7, and the LOD threshold were 15.1, 3.85, 2.13,respectively.Adhesiveness: Three QTLs were detected in 2003, respectively located on thechromosome 6, 4and 9, and the LOD threshold were9.78, 2.47, 2.47, respectively.Two QTLs were detected in 2004, respectively located on the chromosome 6 and 11,and the LOD threshold were 10.60, 2.14, respectively.Cohesiveness: Four QTLs were detected in 2003, respectively located on thechromosome 6, 1, 2and 11, and the LOD threshold were 7.68, 2.56, 2.49, 2.28,respectively. Three QTLs were detected in 2004, respectively located on thechromosome 6, 2and 11, and the LOD threshold were 8.39, 2.18, 2.60, respectively.Springiness: Three QTLs were detected in 2003, respectively located on thechromosome 2, 9and 10, and the LOD threshold were 3.34, 4.09, 4.40, respectively.One QTL was detected in 2004, located on the chromosome 9, and the LOD thresholdwas 2.15.Resilience: Two QTLs were detected in 2003, respectively located on thechromosome 6and 1, and the LOD threshold were 11.00, 2.85, respectively. One QTL was detected in 2004, located on the chromosome 6, and the LOD threshold was 6.15.QTLs were detected in both 2003 and 2004: Hardness: qH-6 which located at theinterval of Mx21-RM204 on the chromosome 6 and qH-10 which located at theinterval of MRG388A-RM591 on the chromosome 10. Adhesiveness: qA-6 whichlocated at the interval of RM586-Mx21 on the chromosome 6. The QTL, qCO-6 andqRE-6, respectively for cohesiveness and resilience, located at the same region, theinterval of Mx21-RM204 on the chromosome 6.2. The cooking quality: WA: One QTL was detected in 2003, located on thechromosome 6, and the LOD threshold was 15.11.Three QTLs were detected in 2004,respectively located on the chromosome 6, 7and 10, and the LOD threshold were 15.1,2.13, 3.85, respectively.CRE: Five QTLs were detected in 2003, three located on the chromosome 1 andtwo located on the chromosome 11, the LOD threshold were 6.00, 3.43, 3.71, 2.03,2.02, respectively. One QTL was detected in 2004, located on the chromosome 5, andthe LOD threshold was 2.41.VE: Three QTLs were detected in 2003, respectively located on the chromosome1, 5and 8, and the LOD threshold were2.41, 2.45, 2.23, respectively. Four QTLs weredetected in 2004, respectively located on the chromosome 1, 5, 8and 10, and the LODthreshold were 2.62, 2.34, 2.78, 2.66, respectively.QTLs were detected in both 2003 and 2004: WA: qWA-6 which located at theinterval of Mx21-RM204 on the chromosome 6. VE: qVE-1 which located at theinterval of RM562-MRG4638 on the chromosome 1 and qVE-5 which located at theinterval of RM437-RM465C on the chromosome 5.3. The waxy gene region plays a major in determining rice texture, cookingquality, AC and GC. The effect that rice cooking quality, AC, hardness, cohesivenessand resilience were influenced by the waxy gene region was identical, and wasopposite with the effect of GC and adhesiveness. |
