From September 2005 to April 2007, the specimens of Procabarus clarkia, which were collected from the area of Huangjin Lake in Caidian district, Wuhan city. To research the eyestalk optic ganglion X-organ-sinus gland (XO-SG) complex histology and cytology, and its relationship with gonadal development, molting and growth. The results were as follow:1. The X-organ, which contained typeⅠ-Ⅵneurosecretory cells, disributed in optic ganglion of eyestalk. Sinus gland was on the inside edge of dorsal to the junction of the medulla terminalis and medulla interna. The sinus gland was composed of its wall and blood sinus. The sinus gland wall contained axon terminals of neurosecretory cells and glial cells and small blood sinus. The sinus gland wall axons had 5 types. The secretion of secreting ceils was mainly two.2. Pigmentation on the protein, saccharide and histochemistry of neurosecretory granules showed that: The secretion located on the outer edge of optic gandlia, the junction of the medulla terminalis and medulla interna, medulla interna and medulla extema, and sinus gland. In the course of growth, There were different quantum and secretion of the different neurosecretory. A neurosecretory could secrete multi- hormone. There were territorial in the classify pigmentized cells, and centrality in the cell of a sort.3. To observe molting, growth and gonadal development of Procambarus clarkia by the excision of eyestalk. The results showed that: Compared with unilateral eyestalk and bilateral eyestalk, the molting and growth speed of former was lower than the latter, after the removal of eyestalk. But both of that faster than the control group. The difference between the groups was significant (P<0.01). Anatomic observation of gonadal development revealed that: ovarian was brown to black after the removal of bilateral eyestalk. In which dark brown was the majority color of ovarian. And the ovarian was satiated, its egg cells were round and comparatively satiated with yolks full of a whole egg. Unilateral resection of Eyestalk, whose ovarian was yellow to brown. Its ovarian was comparatively satiated. And there were two significant eggs which different in size and most were oval. The ovarian of control group was yellow to light brown, interval between the eggs was relatively close. The eggs were polyhedra circular or oval. 3 groups, The difference in the maturity degree of ovarian was significant among the three groups. The degree of maturity as follow: bilateral resection higher than the unilateral removal, and the unilateral removal higher than the control group.4. The completion of the first molt of larvae was out of the film two days later. With the body length increased, its molting time gradually extended. The molting cycle of larvae which body length were more than 1 cm, was generally 2 to 3 days. Molting cycle was four to six days while 3 cm in length, and 6 to 9 days while 5 cm in length. Larvae were generally molt at night, a few individuals in the daytime. Each molting interval was gradually extend with the increase in the molting number. After each molt, the growth speed turned faster, just as continuous ladder-style growth. Body length increased more quickly than weight in early period, which contrary to the later.
