Bacteria were isolated from diseased tomato with bacterial canker in field and their pathogenic bacterium was determined by top pruning. Five disease tolerant tomato varieties were selected from 25 potted tomato varieties by seed inoculation and top pruning, which were ZhongShuâ…£, BaiGuoQiangFeng, QiYanAiFen, LuBi, ZiYu respectively. The physiological and biochemical characters of the five varieties resistant to disease were studied, the results showed that the activities of three defense-related enzymes (PPO, POD and PAL) improved, and their activities reached the peak at the 15 days after inoculation, which earlier than susceptible varieties.
