Fifty fall dormancy, non-dormancy and semi-dormancy Alfalfa Varieties were studied on their phonological period, winter rates, growth characteristics, production performance and nutritional value in China's agricultural high-tech industrial park of Hebei Province. Main results are as follows:(1)According to Fall dormancy standards,regard regrow height in autumn as the only scale, 50 varieties of alfalfa could be divided into four groups by the cluster analysis.to validate the fall dormancy rating of varieties in four groups, results showed it has entirely consistent with which were rated by seed companies.four groups were defined by fall dormancy,semi-dormancy, non-dormancy,and extremely non-dormancy.Compares the unifoliate intermode length, stem diameter, node number, regrow height and winter rates traits in different groups of Fall dormancy rating, the results showed that Significant differences between regrow height and winter rates. The relevant analysis showed that fall dormancy rating with winter rates have significant negative correlation (-0.921); and a significant positive correlation between regorw height and fall dormancy rating (0.989).(2)Hay yield with fall dormancy rating have significant correlation. The average hay yield of fall dormancy varieties is 0.386 kg/㎡, semi-dormancy varieties is 0.861 kg/㎡, and non-dormancy 1.092 kg/㎡.'Overseason'has the highest hay yield in non-dormancy varieties, and'CW650'in non-dormancy varieties,'xinmuⅠ'in fall dormancy varieties,there is a very significant negative correlation between hay yield with the crude protein concent (-0.432); with the acid detergent fiber(ADF) was very significant (0.619); and with the neutral detergent fiber(NDF) was positively correlated (0.329). Variance analysis showed that there is a significant difference in different groups of fall dormancy rating between the first and second stubbles,but no significant difference between the third stubbles. further multiple of comparisons of different stubbles between different groups of fall dormancy rating ,results showed that:there is a significant differences between the fall dormancy varieties (GroupⅠ) and semi-fall dormancy varieties (GroupⅡ), non-fall dormancy varieties (GroupⅢ), extremely non-dormancy varieties(GroupⅣ) in the first and second stubbles. The other group is not significant.(3)There is a significant differences between crude protein concent in different varieties of alfalfa(p<0.05),range form 10.1% to 27.36%,'Amerigraze701'has the highest crude protein concent,of the varieties in trial ,twenty varieties which crude protein concent over 20%. there is also a significant differences between ether extract,acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber in different varieties of alfalfa(p<0.05,range form 1.18% to 5%,27.08% to 33.8%,32.27% to 48.57%. Variance analysis showed that there is a significant difference in different groups of fall dormancy rating of nutritional value, further multiple of comparisons of crude protein, ether extract,acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber between different groups of fall dormancy rating ,results showed that: crude protein and NDF has a significant difference between different groups of fall dormancy rating; ether extract has a significant difference in groups ofⅠ-Ⅲ,Ⅰ-Ⅳ,Ⅱ-Ⅳ,Ⅲ-Ⅳ; ADF has a significant difference in groups ofⅠ-Ⅱ,Ⅰ-Ⅲ,Ⅰ-Ⅳ,Ⅱ-Ⅲ,Ⅱ-Ⅳ,Ⅲ-Ⅳ.(4)Application of Analytic Hierarchy Process to comprehensive evaluate the fall dormancy, performance, quality of 50 alfalfa varieties.select the winter hardness, regeneration, growth rate, dry/fresh ratio,ground biomass, stems/leaves ratio, crude protein , ether extract, ADF, NDF 10 factors. Evaluation results show that: an integrated traits of good varieties are:'Amerigraze701''CW900''CW650''SIMA893''CW680''Amerileaf721''Xinjiang daye''Debo''Lobo'varieties. fast growing species are:'Amerileaf721''CW650';high crude protein content of the varieties are:'Amerigraze701''CW680''Amerileaf721''SIMA893''Lobo';'Amerileaf721''Amerigraze701''CW900''SIMA893'these varieties dry/fresh ratio relatively small, high air-hay ability, under the same conditions will be higher hay yield, higher dry matter content;but'CW650''Debo'have Poor performance of air-hay, they suitable for fresh feed.
