Study On The Conservation And Selection Of Shanghai White Pig (Nong Line)

Domestic animal diversity is an important component of biological diversity ,it's also important genetic resources regarding human being long term food safety stratagem. but in traditional conception of conservation of biological diversity, people mostly concern wild animal, plant, microorganism, not including domestic animal. this prejudice does`t give enough emphasis upon domestic animal breeds resources on scale, stratagem, method, technique, laws, education, propagandize.This study choose cultivating breed Shanghai White pig (SW)as material, working over practicing method on conservation and selection, including adding effective size of population; testing reproduction performance, testing growth and carcass performance;choosing animal model Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) and single trait BLUP method of GBS software, getting the single trait Estimated Breeding Value(EBV) of total number of piglets born(TNB)from 2000 to 2006 . 1. conservation of Shanghai White Pigeffective size of population from 19 in 2003 reaches to 39 in 2007.boar lines from 5lines in 2003 reach to 10 lines in 2007.population of sows from 100 in 2003 reaches to 301 in 2007.the average age of sows is 3.86 year,boar 5.67 year. the increment of inbreeding in 2003 is 3%, it deduces to 1% in 2007. the coefficient of inbreeding of the total population reaches 1%.2. BLUP resultsUsing BLUP method giving EBVs top 80 sows ,and calculate genetic trend during 2000 to 2006,and shows that the population's gentic gaining descended much in 2002 because the elimination of the population for bad market conditions ,but from 2003-2006,the genetic gainings rise up again,meaning with continuous conservation and selection the performance of SW breed might get good genetic advantage.3. testing and selectionTesting 27 offspring of 5 boar lines ,in 110 days finishing period ,ADG of SW is 542.2g. the total period is 197days, live weight reaches 81.6 kg, lower than the level 1 in GB 8473-87, backfat is 32.4 mm, lean rate is 54.9%, higher than the level 2 in GB 8473-87. Testing reproduction performance, the TNB of total population is 10.33±2.80/litter in 2000, in 2003 it reaches to 9.78±2.81/litter,in 2007 it adds to 10.71±2.81/litter .
