This experiment was designed to study the influence of differert dietary menthionine level on hair follicle development and productive performance of long hair rabbit in Shizhu county of Chongqing. Finally,it will offer some mechanism about improving rabbit hair production and follicle development in this new breed of long hair rabbit.The experiment used single factor trial design. A total of thirty-six healthy, proximal body weight, proximal parity were devided in three groups,each group with three replicates, each replicates with four rabbits.Then,these female rabbits were all executed artificial insemination using a male rabbit's liquor seminis. Each group was fed with different menthionine addition in the same dietary with CP=17.74% and DE=10.63MJ/kg,and menthionine additional level was 0.2%,0.4% and 0.6%.The total menthionine level of dietary in three treatments was 0.51%,0.71% and 0.91% respectively. Embryo and new bom fetus were gotten by cutting the belly open or aborting the pregnant rabbits through injection of prostaglandin. The skin samples located in head,back,buttocks and lateral were collected,and conserved in formalin(10%).The skin samples were collected from one female rabbit's embryo per replicate in each stage. The feature of skin and follicle's development were observed by paraffin section. Subsequently. the young rabbit born in each female rabbit group were fed the same dietary. Thirty young rabbits' hair productive performance and the the diameter feature would be recorded, which have proximal body weight after weaning. The feature of follicle development was also observed.In conclusion, the results indicated that:(1)With the dietary menthionine level increasing, the total follicle density in the skin of buttocks and lateral part of body raised significantly (p<0.01) in the 26th day of gestation;in the 31th day of gestation,the total follicle density of head(p<0.01),back(p<0.05) and buttocks(p<0.01) raised significantly or significantly seriously;at the 2th month after birth, the total follicle density of head and buttocks raised significantly(p<0.05).(2)With the dietary menthionine level increasing, the primary follicle density of skin in the back raised significantly(p<0.05) in the 31th day of gestation period.(3)With the dietary menthionine level increasing, the secondary follicle density of skin in head and buttocks raised significantly (p<0.05)in the 26th day of gestation period and 2th month after birth.(4)With the dietary menthionine level increasing, the primary and secondary follicle's diameter of each group was not remarkable in the 26th ,31th day,2th month of gestation(p>0.05).But we can find that the secondary follicle's diameter rose with the dietary menthionine level increasing when in the 31th day of gestation.(5)With the dietary menthionine level increasing, the length of follicle on the skin of back rose significantly(p<0.05) in the 31th day of gestation.(6)Expect the total thickness of skin in head rose significantly(p<0.05),the total thickness of skin in other part of body was not remarkable(p > 0.05).(7)The production of rabbit hair rose significantly at the 2th month after birth (p<0.05)(8)With the increasing of the dietary menthionine level, the diameter of guard fiber was not remarkable(p>0.05),but the diameter of fine fiber rose significantly(p<0.05).
