Plant fibrillin is a nuclear-encoded plastid lipid-associated protein that ubiquitously exists in both monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants. Protein accumulation occurs under environment stress such as high light, cold and drought, showing that fibrillin functions in adapting to abiotic stress and may play an important role in plant growth and development. In Arabidopsis thaliana, it has been proved that fibrillin protein interacts with ABI2(ABA insensitive) and its synthesis is dependent on ABI1, both of which are key factors in ABA signal transduction, indicating fibrillin roles in ABA signal transduction as a negative factor. In addition, fibrillin is known to relate to oleosome and to participate in PSII protection against illumination, cluing that its overexpression in Brassica napus will help to improve plants' oil production and adaptability to adverse circumstances. So it is very important in theory and application to research fibrillin's expression and function in Brassica napus.Arabidopsis fibrillin promoter and fibrillin cDNA were constructed in pBI121 and transferred into"2005nanxi" in order to obtain stable expression plant for function research. The cotyledons segments which have a l-2mm petiole was remained at its base from Brassica napus cultivars "nanxi 2005 "were transformed with Fibrillin cDNA by Agrobacterium-mediation method. Some kanamycin-resistent green shoots were obtained.A preliminary molecular identification with the kan- resistant green shoots showed that 3 green shoots produced the expected fragment in 1000bp in PCR,thus confirming successful integration of the foreign gene into the genomes of the oil seed rape cultivars. No seedling carrying fibrillin promoter was detected. The Photosynthetic rates and Chlorophyll fluorescence analysis from March to April showed that there were apparent difference in transformed plants and non-transplants.And they were also apparent difference in partial agronomic characteristics and seed yield. Fibrillin is known to relate to oleosome and to participate in PSII protection against illumination, cluing that its overexpression in Brassica napus will help to improve plants' oil production.
