Forest fire spreading is an extremely complex phenomenon, which is influenced by multi-components combustible in each kind of meteorological condition and terrain. And the agent , which has autonomic, reactive and social characteristics, not only can perform complex tasks, but also can take corresponding action according to the surroundings, which take on the good interaction with the environment. So forest fire spreading is very similar to the behaviors of the agent. Based on the characteristics of the agent, this paper innovatively introduced multi-agent theory into the forest fire research, proposed the concept of"forest fire agent"and constructed the rules of forest fire agent'behaviors, and developed the corresponding software under Visual C++ 2008 and OpenGL programming platforms. Choosing the Ba Da Ling Forest farm as test area, this research also simulated the forest fire spreading to verify the software's functions and effects. The results showed that this software can simulate the real circumstance of the fire burning as far as possible, and reflect the rules of forest fire spreading, which indicated that the software is useful for fire risk prediction and extinguishing decision-making. On the one hand results of this research enriches the theory of forest firing, on the other hand proposes a means to implement the true 3D simulation of forest fire spreading.The main content of the paper:1. Proposing the concept of"forest fire agent"and constructing the behavior rules of forest fire agent.2. Developing the simulation software of forest fire spreading: this paper developed the corresponding software under Visual C++ 2008 and OpenGL programming environment, which can meet the needs of the Agent-Forest fire model and simulate forest fire automatically. Its functions consists of reading DEM data,loading the images of vegetation distribution, setting fire point, wind speed and direction and humidity,simulating fire spreading with visibility.3. Analyzing the simulation results: In this paper,Ba Da Ling forest farm in Beijing was chosen to be the test area. Combined with the local weather data and sub-compartment data,the 1:10000 DEM grid data and the image of vegetation distribution were used to test the software's functions and effects. The results can reflect the rules of forest fire spreading, thereby verified the utility of the software.The main innovation of this research is that we applied multi-agent theory to forest fire spreading simulation, proposed the concept of forest fire agent, constructed forest fire agent's behavior, developed the software and realized the true 3D simulation of forest fire spreading.
