Heterosis And Inheritance Of Main Yield Characters Of Pepper

The research draw on the 1/2P(P+1) Diallel Data design studied heterosis,combining ability and genetic correlation of 13 yield characters of pepper. The results were summarized as follow:1 Five different parents and their hybrid combination add up to 15 genotypes to analyze the heterosis and the combining ability of 13 yield characters, and the results showed:1.1 The analysis of heterosis indicated that the heterosis of yield characters of pepper was quite extensive. Weigh/per fruit had strongly positive heterosis as well as edible part of fruit, yeild/per plant, fruit length, fruit width, flowering date, fruiting day, harvest maturity date;fruit index, , SPAD of flowering date showed negative heterosis, and other 3 yield characters had the same level between positive heterosis and negative one. Heterosis degree of different characters was different. The heterosis of yield/per plant was the most evident one of all.1.2 The variances of general and special combining ability were significant or extremely significant. It's indicated that these yield characters were influenced by the add effects or non-add effects of gene or both ones.There were greatly difference among various characters on general combining ability and variance of specific combining ability. We could comprehensively evaluate parents according to general combining ability and specific combining ability variances. Parent 4 and Parent 1 were ideal parents for super yield breeding of pepper.2. The genetic correlations of 13 yield characters of pepper were signifcant or extremely significant. Weigh/per fruit had extremely significant positive correlation with edible part of fruit, yield/per plant, fruit width, fruit flesh thickness, and had significant positive correlation with fruit length, fruiting date. Weight of edible part of fruit had extremely significant positive correlation with yield/per plant, fruit width, fruit flesh thickness; and had significant positive correlation with fruiting date. Fruit numbers/per plant had extremely significant with fruit length, fruit width and fruit index; and had significant with friut yield/per plant and flesh thickness. Yield/per plant was extremely significant correlation with fruit length. There were extremely significant correlation between fruit length with fruit width, fruit index and fruit flesh thickness. Fruit flesh thickness had extremely significant correlation with fruiting date, and had significant correlation with flowering date and harvest maturity date. The coefficient between flowering date and fruiting date was 0.9368, it was 0.7854 between flowering date and harvest maturity date. SPAD of flowering date was extremely correlative with SPAD of fruiting date. So we need pay attention to the choice of high weigh/per fruit,fruit numbers/per plant,yield/per plant,fruit index in yield breeding of pepper, and pay more attiention to fruit width, it is an important factor in improvement pepper yield breeding.
