In this study, the genetic diversity in 50 Confection Sunflower germplasm from different countries or regions was assessed using morphological characteristics and RAPD markers, and the genetic relationship among the germplasm was revealed by cluster nalysis at various level. The main results were as follows:1. The genetic diversity among 50 Confection Sunflower germplasm was revealed by cluster analysis on 12 morphological characteristics. The euclidean distance of germplasm varied from 8 to 360, it suggested that the genetic diversity among germplasm was wide. Clustering analysis indicated that 50 germplasm could be divided into three groups: 27 germplasm were classified into group 1, group 2 had 22 germplasm, and group 3 had 1 gennplasm. Clustering analysis on morphological characteristics was associated with geological distribution.2. Optimized RAPD reaction system and suitable conditions were obtained.3. The genetic diversity among 50 Confection Sunflower germplasm was analyzed by RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA). 100 primers were used for amplification, among which 19 primers were selected for RAPD analysis. These primers could amplify stable and polymorphic RAPD bands and produced 123 bands. Of them, 150 bands (82.00%) were polymorphic. The genetic different indexes of all the germplasm varied from 0.8122 to 0.214, suggesting that the genetic diversity among germplasm was wildly. The dendrogram constructed using the UPGMA analysis suggested that 50 germplasm could be divided into three groups: 26 germplasm were classified into group 1, group 2 had 23 gerniplasm, group 3 had 1 germplasm, Clustering analysis on RAPD markers was associated with geological distribution.4. Clustering analysis between morphological characteristics and RAPD markers was very consistent.
