Eco-landscape forest, as an important component of urban forest, is a significant subsystem in forest ecosystem and a common symbol of modem urban and forest. Taking the eco-landscape forest of northern mountain in Meilie district, Sanming city as an object, this research has been carried out assessment and construction based on field investigations and data collections. Moreover, relevant technology and methods have been put forward on planning and design, tree species arrangement and management, etc, in order to establish a relatively complete study system for eco-landscape forest, which will provide reference for the construction of it in Sanming city, and even the subtropical oceanic monsoon areas. The main contents are as follows:(1) Synthetize the predecessors' research findings, and discuss the concept category and theoretical system of eco-landscape forest.(2) Sample-plot survey and questionnaire have been exercised for the field investigation of eco-landscape forest, so as to acquire the overall perception for the landscape and ecological quality of northern mountain macroscopically, and the quantitative conclusions for tree species composition, community structure, site conditions, and habitat characteristics of present forestland microcosmicly. At the same time, materials are widely collected as the precondition and foundation of scientific and rational evaluation and construction.(3) Based on the field investigations and data analysis, the comprehensive evaluating system of eco-landscape forest has been founded by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) .The research shows that visual landscape quality, eco-environmental quality, recreational function and location condition can be used to estimate the present situation of landscape and ecological quality comparatively roundly and exactly. Take them as the first primary grade index to set up a structure model. The assessment results are reflected by comprehensive appraisal index, which reveals that the total quality is poor for eco-landscape forest of northern mountain in Meilie district, Sanming city, in orders: Area A> Area C> Area B.(4) According to the results of investigation and evaluation, there is something wrong with the present forestland of northern mountain, such as single forest phase, too high rate of masson pine, few broadleaf and color-leaved species, the lack of ground covers under trees, unreasonable forest structure, poor community stability, etc. On the other hand, northern mountain is in the periphery belt of urban landscape, which is the entrance of Sanming city with high sensitivity, convenient transportation, unblocked visual line, and better location condition.(5)Based on the present forestland situation of northern mountain, the study on establishing technology for eco-landscape forest has been developed in order to beautify urban forest landscape pattern, perfect forest ecological network system, create nice regional eco-environment and living environment. The study contents comprise four aspects: planning and design, tree species selection, plant community construction, and silviculture technique.For the planning of eco-landscape forest in northern mountain, the spatial layout of three zones, three districts, and twe lines has been designed to make the eco-landscape forest and the greening construction of urban waterfront space on two banks of Shaxi river combine together organically, so as to construct the compound ecological network system and spatial landscape pattern with the plane being main body, point-line interpenetration, and point-line-plane combination.For the tree species selection of eco-landscape forest in northern mountain, indigenous broadleaf species, color-leaved species, protective species and health care species with obvious ornamental, resistance and stability have been emphasized to increase, relying on present forest vegetation with masson pine mainly, in order to reduce forestry disease and pest and become seasonal landscape forest with beautiful flowers in spring, deep green leaves in summer, golden color in fall, and gray green in winter.For the plant community structure design of eco-landscape forest in northern mountain, the natural development path of plant community has been simulated to develope ecological design of community so that masson pine coniferous forests can be gradually successed by zonal complex layers and coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest community composed of many different varieties of arbor, shrub, herb and liana, etc, to cultivate the "almost nature forest community" in "fewest human management", which follows natural circle laws entirely during late periods.For the silviculture technique of eco-landscape forest in northern mountain, large area clear cutting should be avoided to properly accelerate the natural succession of forest community with some artificial measures such as tending thinning plantation, replantation and interplantation, etc. This paper also preliminarily discusses methods and steps about seedling species, specifications, tree species substitution, planting techniques and maintenance management, etc.
