In order to find out the biological characteristic and fruit development of kiwifruit "Hongyang" in Ya'an, Province Sichuan, the botanical characteristics, blooming and bearing habit, fruit development, fruit character and fruit nutrition of kiwifruit "Hongyang" were studied. The results were as follows:1. The dormant period of "Hongyang" was ended at the beginning of February in Ya'an. The buds sprouted in the middle ten days of February, and the flowers bloomed at the first ten days of April, the fruits ripened from the last ten days of August to the first ten days of September, the leaves began to fall off from the last ten days of November befor the dormant period comming.2. The bearing shoot came mainly from the buds of 5~14 node on the winter canes. So the long cane pruning should be used on the planting for a good harvest.3. The growth curve of longitudinal diameter of fruit was a single sigmoid, there have only one growth peak value, but the growth curves of transverse diameter and fresh weight of fruit were double sigmoid.4. The growth curves of longitudinal and transverse diameter of fruit were not effected by soaking the fruits in GA3, but the shape index of fruit was increased and the sensory quality of fuit was improved. The fruit weight and fruit nutrition except titratable acid were remarkably increased by soaking the fruits in CPPU, but the shape index of fruit was decreased and the shape of fruit was becoming prolate, the frui dot was bigger and the pericarp not smooth.5. The long fruit branch and medium fruit branch were excellent for the production of high quality fruit. So it should be useful to train more long- and middle fruit branches.6. The red colour in sarcocarp was observed during the slow growing of fruit. The anthocyanin in sarcocarp was produced in the same time, its origin wasn't coming from decompose of chlorophyll, but was positive correlated with content of sugar in the fuit.
