Study On Production Performance, Turf Quality And Drought Resistance Of Several Festuca Rubra L. Strains

In this paper,base on production performance,turf quality and drought resistance, Three Festuca rubra L.strains("SGSA-05054","SGSA-05055",and "SGSA-05056") and one control-"Polar" were studied in Hongyuan county.The main results showed as fallows:1.The second year after cultivation,all materials had completed their growth stage and obtained the seeds.In seed maturing stage,the vertical height of three strains were 82.90cm,80.20cm,82.98cm respectively,and lower than "Polar".But they had strong rhizome expansibility,the maximum extended diameter reached 30.90cm and 60.80cm respectively in the seeding year and the year after seeding.There was an extremely significant difference with "Polar"(P<0.01).2.In the seeding year,three strains had no significant difference in hay yield,with an average of 1986.15 kg/hm~2."Polar" was 3085.04 kg/hm~2.Next year,the fresh yield of all materials had no significant difference in the full flowering stage.After cutting,the regrowth speed of three strains was faster,and the hay yield were 1351.16kg/hm~2, 1499.52kg/hm~2,1478.50kg/hm~2,and higher than "Polar"(1034.02kg/hm~2),there was an extremely significant difference with three strains.Analysis of nutrient composition:the difference of crude protein content were no significant among strains,"Polar" had lower crude protein content(10.64%) and higher cellulose content(NDF69.56%,ADF59.85%). "SGSA-05054" and "SGSA-05056" had lower cellulose content.3.Analysis of the forage yield component factors showed that the forage yield had a significant positive correlation with stem diameter and leaf layer height,the correlation coefficients were 0.601,0.655,and had no correlations with other indices;for morphological traits,there were highly significant positive correlations in any two items among stem-leaf ratio,stem diameter and plant height;the stem-leaf ratio and plant height were in a significant or highly significant negative correlation with tiller number;a highly significant positive correlation between leaf length and leaf layer height.4.The seed yield of all materials were 480.25kg/hm~2,756.17kg/hm~2,915.08kg/hm~2, 1352.25kg/hm~2 respectively,and "Polar" had the highest seed yield,there was a significant or highly significant with other materials.Analysis of the seed yield component factors,the relevance ranking was:1000-grain weight reproductive shoots number/m~2>floret number/spikelet>seed number/spikelet>spikelet number/panicle>tiller number.The correlation coefficients of two former were 0.862 and 0.777 respectively.The spikelet and tiller number had highly significant negative correlation with seed yield.The potential seed yields of the four materials were far higher than actual seed yield,so they should have a greater potentiality for further application.5.Based on 6 indices:coverage,color,texture,uniform,disease and cold resistance, turf qualty of four Festuca rubra L.materials were evaluated by 9 grades system.The results indicated that the comprehensive scores of "SGSA-05055" and "SGSA-05056" amounted to 7.7 and 8.0,although the regenerative speed of three strains was faster than "Polar",considering the natural condition and economic foundation in this area,red fescue "SGSA-05055" and "SGSA-05056" may be thought of as new turf varieties to extend use.6.Under drought stress,the relative water content(RWC) and chlorophyll content were in a decreasing trend;the relative conductance rate(RPP) and the malondiadehyde (MDA) presented increase;the dissociated praline(Pro) presented first increasing then descending.The drought coefficients of five physiological parameters were evaluated by subordinate function analysis.The capacity of drought resistance of the four varieties is ordered as follows:"SGSA-05056">"polar">"SGSA-05055">"SGSA-05054".7.In conclusion,"Polar" and "SAGA-05056" have a high forage yield and seed yield, could be used as forage.The forage quality of "SGSA-05056" is superior to the control "Polar",all materials can fit for establishing on a large scale in alpine area as turf grass. And "SGSA-05055","SGSA-05056" have better performance on turf characters,and may be thought of as a new variety to extend use.
