The core of the Second Green Revolution is to develop water-saving irrigation technique, such as drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation. It is necessary to solve the problem of high sediment of Yellow River to generalize the drip irrigation technique in the irrigation district along the Yellow River. After comparison and analysis of all kinds of solid-liquid separation equipment, the disc separator specialized in separating sediment from the water of Yellow River has been designed and developed. The optimum design of the structure and process parameters of the disc separator is discussed in this paper.First, it explained centrifugation principle and thin-layer separation theory and analyzed the centrifugation process of the disc separator and the force condition of the solid particles in the centrifugal force field. According to the analysis of the requirement of the drip irrigation water and the ingredient and characteristic of Yellow River water, it decided the design goal of the disc separator.Second, capacity is one of the main indexes to measure separation efficiency. It can be seen from the theoretical analysis that 5 factors namely, drum speed, disc generation line cone angle, clearance between two discs, inner diameter and number of nozzles influence the capacity remarkably, therefore, they are considered to be main factors that influence the separation efficiency of the disc separator. Taking comprehensive weight all kinds of separation index as objective function is named separation efficiency. During the optimizing process, taking all the facts that influences separation efficiency as variable parameters, maximize the objective function by finding out the optimal matching of the variable parameters. Then work out the parameters optimization process of the disc separator according to the above mentioned principals.Third, based on thin-layer separation theory, it designed and calculated the main structure parameters of the disc separator and got the variable parameters' change scope of the disc separator.Finally, put up CFD simulation platform of the disc separator using FLUENT software. Through simulation test, it proved that all the parameters were set up reasonably, the simulation model was right. It also made five factors and five levels orthogonal test to gain the optimum operating condition of the equipment. Then, it made variance analysis of the test data using c language programmers evaluated every factor's influence degree to the influenced factors through range. After that, it got the influence coefficient of every influence factor by using the method of trial calculation. Under the optimum operating condition, it proved every factor's influence to the separation efficiency and analyzed every factor's influences mechanism to the test result.The result work of this paper provides theoretical basis and optimization direction for the improvement of test prototype, and it is also a reference to the development of equipment of the same kind.
