With the development of dairy cattle feeding production, the upgrade of production efficiency from the elaborate scientific dairy cattle breeding has been gained extensive attention from breeders, Which speeds up the development and applications of software for formulating rations. The development of dairy cattle nutrition models which are the core of the software for formulating rations makes the software upgraded constantly. In addition, the appearance of new parameters and development of mathematic optimizing models bring a challenge in the development of software for formulating rations.Based on the standard system of nutrient requirements of dairy cattle, the main models of predicting nutrient requirements and the basic data of the feedstuffs provided in the Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle which was published by American National Research Council in 2001, this study has developed a dairy cattle ration diagnoses and TMR optimizing system with VB as the software language, ACCESS2003 as the data-base and the linear programming technology. The system has realized two main functions including to evaluate the appointed ration from the quantity and balance of the nutrition supply and to optimize the lowest cost of a dairy cattle ration to achieve the production targets with limited feedstuffs in a given environment. The system uses the crystal report and Excel as the export forms. The functions include ration optimizing, ration diagnosing, data-management, ration printing and Help. There are 11 modules in the nutrition calculation including calf nutrient computation, mineral nutrient computation, pregnancy nutrient requirement computation, lactation nutrient requirement computation, target weights nutrient requirement computation, energy and protein supply computation, amino acid nutrient requirement computation, dry matter intake requirement computation, maintenance nutrient requirement computation, growth nutrient requirement computation, reserves nutrient requirement computation, diet evaluation computation( i andâ…±).The difficulties and innovation points in the system study are located as follows: first, this system deals with about 400 parameters which are correlated with each other in modules; second, the system can predict the dairy cattle nutrient requirement dynamically, that is"non-tables"in dairy cattle nutrient requirements ;finally, by the using the dynamic RDP, RUP and their balance and the system of metabolizable protein in the small intestine to design and optimize the dairy cattle rations, the optimized TMR is truly in balance of the nutrition ,which overcomes the limitations of ration calculated by the system of digestible protein system. Moreover, the system was used to diagnose the dairy cattle rations provided by Caihe dairy cattle farm in Changping district of Beijing. The whole dairy cattle nutrient requirements and a optimized ration were provided by the system. By experiment, the good effects of this system were proved by increased milk production and steady milk fat percent.
