Amphioxus is ClassⅡprotective marine animals in china, which plays an important role in the process of evolution from invertebrate to vertebrate and it has high academic research value in Biology.The biology resource,amphioxus resource and environment factor investigation were performed in the natural reserve area for amphioxus in Qingdao which was established in 2004. Several main morphology characteristics of amphioxus from Qingdao were compared with those from other main growing area. The main results are summarized as follows:1. There are 44 species recorded in the reserve area in spring, including 23 fish species, 16 crustacean species and 5 cephalopod species; While there are 43 species recorded in the reserve area in autumn, including 29 fish species, 10 crustacean species and 4 cephalopod species. The dominant species in the study consist of small low-value fishes and commercial invertebrates. There are obvious changes between spring and autumn in the composition of main dominant species .2. A total number of 29 specie of phytoplankton found in the reserve area, which is composed mainly of diatom and dinoflagellate, including 24 diatom species and 5 dinoflagellate species . The dominant species in spring are composed of Asterionellaka riana,Rhizosolenia setigera,Hemiaulus sinenisis,Biddulphia sinensis,Nitzschia paradoxa; while it changes to Hemiaulus sinenisis,Chaetoceros lorenzianus,Chaetoceros debilis,Chaetoceros curvisetus,Rhizosolenia bricatas in autumn.3. 23 specie of zooplankton are found in two reasons ,mainly neritic temperate species, including 1 protozoa specie,1 chaetognatha specie,14 copepod species and 6 hydromedusae species .The dominant spring species are Eurytemora pacifica,Pseudodiaptomus marinus, and the dominant autumn species are Sagitta crassa,Corycaeus sp.4. The main length group of the lancelet in spring is 30~35mm,while it is respectively 20~25mm and 30~35mm in autumn. Lancelet in the reserve area mainly locates within 120°21′~120°23′, 35°59′~36°.The protected area houses about 340t lancelet with its average inhabiting density 44 ind/m2 and average biomass 5.51g/m2.5. The results of Clustering and principal components analysis based on nine morphological characters shows that amphioxus from the reserve and Shazikou belongs to the same population, but there are obvious differentiations between amphioxus from Qingdao,Qinhuangdao and Xiamen.
