Global climate change and its impacts are one of the greatest environmental problems. The rapid elevation of the atmospheric CO2 concentration is the critical issue. To find out the cause and solution, accurately indentifying the magnitude of carbon stock of forest is impotant. Due to the lack of carbon accounting factors, especially the main tree species, in order enhance the quality of Land-use Change and Forestry sector of National Greenhouse Gas Inventory and the accuracy of the carbon sequestration potential of the afforestation and reforestation activities.Based on the IPCCdocuments as the main basis,the paper first summarized the biomass carbon accounting methodology and progress, collected the literature data on Poplar forest, then analyzed the whole Poplar species comprehensively. The content of the paper includes: Biomass equations(Biomass allometric equation, Biomass conversion and expansion equation), Biomass factors(Biomass conversion and expansion factor(BCEF), Biomass expansion factor(BEF), Root: shoot ratio(R), Community biomass expansion factor(CBEF), Basic wood density(WD) and Carbon fraction (CF). Main conclusions are following:①Through literature data on Poplar forest, we found there are significant differences between the biomass equations, and between the most of biomass factors (i.e. BCEF,BEF) of different stand origins, but R is the exceptional one of Biomass factors.②The allometric equations of Stem, Branch, Aboveground and Underground biomass of Poplar plantation were better than the one of Leaf.③Among the influences of ecological factors to Biomass factors, Soil types affect BEF, human disturbance affects BCEF and BEF.④Mean BCEF of Poplar plantation is 0.6528 Mg·m-3 (n=53 , SIX). 1176), Mean BEF is 1.5776Mg·m-3(n=53,SD=0.1617). The BCEF and BEF decreased exponentially and tended to a constant with the increase of Stand age (A), Diameter at breast height (DBH), Stand volume (V) and Mean annual volume increment (MAVI). ⑤Based on literature data and field data, there is significant difference between mean of R, but R had no significant correlation to A,DBH,V,D,SBA and MAVI. Therefore, R is a quite stable accounting factor.⑥Mean CF of Poplar plantation is 45.02% (SIM .4174 , n=9),CF-value of aboveground part is 44.8522%(SIM.5870 , n=9),and underground part is 45.6311 % (SD=0.4779, n=9).
