SN02-3 and SN05-3 and their male sterile lines of CHA under field conditions at different developmental stages were compared with their fertile lines to study the effect of BAU-9403 on winter wheat. This effect may lead to the thinness of seeds from CHA-based hybrids (chemical hybridizing agent). The special protein which was concern with male sterility was to be founded through A-PAGE analysis of gliadins in seeds male sterile wheat, and their fertile wheat. The main results were as follows:1. The chlorophyll contents were significant differences between male sterile lines of CHA and fertile lines. The chlorophyll contents of male sterile lines were lower than their fertile at thirty days after anthesis. The chlorophyll contents of male sterile lines thirty-five days after anthesis was 6.5810.33, and the colour of flag-leaf was still green, while the chlorophyll contents of fertile lines could not be mensurated.2. The performance of two male sterile lines of CHA was different on net photosynthetic rate (Pn). The Pn values of SN02-3 CHA- sterile lines, which was 11.73μmol CO2·m-2·s-1, were the lowest at heading stage. The Pn of SN05-3 CHA- sterile lines was higher before early-filling stage. But the value of Pn decreased to 14.3011.31 during later filling stage, which was lower than its fertile lines by 0.711.44μmol CO2·m-2·s-1.3. The Gs and Tr of different male sterile lines and their fertile lines have no same dynamics. Gs of SN05-3 and SN02-3 CHA-sterile lines decreased very quickly from early-filling stage, and which was significantly lower than their fertile lines (234.0368.3mmol·m-2·s-1 and 215.6300.9 mmol·m-2·s-1). Gs of fertile lines was higher than CHA-sterile lines especially at filling stage. The variation of Tr was different between two material. Tr of SN02-3 CHA-sterile lines was lower than its fertile lines during filing stage by 0.390.77μmol H2O·m-2·s-1. The perpormance of SN05-3 CHA-sterile lines was: its value of Tr was higher than fertile lines before gilling stage, while lower at later filling stage by 0.330.91μmol H2O·m-2·s-1. That of CHA-sterile line was low for the harm from CHA, especially at filling stage.4. Through two strains, we study the effect of BAU-9403 on accumulation and transportation of photosynthate in grain filling in wheat. The results showed that the transportable assimilates ware very sufficient during filling stage. The photosynthate supply capacity of source-product was very strong. So the influence of damage to photosynthate supply capacity of source-product by CHA was not significant. However, in the end of filling stage, the content of sucrose and starch in the leaves of the CHA-sterile lines were higher, and much available carbohydrates reserved were left in the leaves while the matter in the leaves were exported slowly. The dry matter translocation as well as dry matter translocation efficiency, dry matter translocation proportion for grain of stems declined more in SN05-3, but the decrease of dry matter translocation of leaves and dry matter translocation efficiency of sheath was more in SN02-3. This proved that the use of CHA was significantly decreased the output per day of dry matter, as well as the dry matter translocation, dry matter translocation efficiency and dry matter translocation proportion for grain in stems, leaves and sheaths. There was stronger effect on SN05-3. 5. The sizes, water content, the aeeumulation speed of dry matter weight of kernels, and the content of total soluble carbohy drates, suerose and starch in the wheat kernels were determined. The results indieated that there was no significant different in extension growth period. The potential storage capacity pf single grain was bigger than fertile lines by 1.66μL/grain3.36μL/grain. Duration of grain filling of CHA-sterile lines was shortened by 9.56 days in SN05-3, and 2.5 days in SN02-3, but the grain filling rate was decreased more in SN02-3. The CHA-based hybrids wheat had a weak ability for sink. The highest starch accumulation speed of CHA-based hybrids was just 1/3 of its fertile lines and its starch content in kernels was significantly lower than that of its fertile lines. The starch content in kernels of CHA-based hybrids was 69.21% and 34.23% of their fertile linesat harvest. Dry matter exported slowly in source area, much photosynthates were not export and left in the source leaves and the CHA-based hybrids wheat had a weak ability for sink dealing with the assimilates provided by source, slow synthesis speed of starch. These may be the main reason for the thinness of CHA-based hybrids.6. The result of seed gliadin electrophoresis showed that there were significant differences in the CHA-sterile lines and their fertile lines, which were appearance of new bands of CHA-sterile lines and the degree of expression was also different. There is two special band inα-section of the pattern of CHA-sterile lines. The further study was needed to test why the degree of expression was different.
