The Prevalence And Purification Measures Of Balantidium Coli In Large-scaled Swine Farms

Balantidium coli was a worldwide distribution of the parasite. It makes the animal diarrhea, Pig production has caused great economic losses. In order to show the data of purification measures on parasite in Large-scale pig farms, the prevalence and treatment of Balantidium coli was tested,the result showed that:1. Using the direct smear method ,2057 stool samples from 20 farms were examined. The result showed that the infection rates of all 20 pig farms were detected Balantidium coli, The positive rate of Balantidium coli on Breast-feeding pigs , Conservation pig, Finishing pigs- Breeding swine, Species of boar were 10.79%, 26.97%, 51.78%, 44.63%, 49.0% respectively.2. Using metronidazole, sulfamethoxazole and oxytetracycline efficacy,the Balantidium coli in vitro and vivo were treaticed. The results showed that the four drugs were effected, the metronidazole were the best.3. 5 farms have been chosed to perform the experiment. Purification Measures are taken as follows:â‘ Using metronidazole as parasiticide.â‘¡all pigs take parasiticide before this measure.â‘¢the piglets and swine taking parasiticide.â‘£Monitoring the infection of parasites , Improving the management and the sanitary conditions on the farms. The result showed that the diarrhea can be controled after a year's practice. the Balantidium coli infection rate all negative,the significant of indigestion and diarrhea phenomenon has been improvement ,the proportion of diarrhea from the highest of 29.5 percent fell into lowest 2.7 percent.
