Cultivation Of Chrysanthemum And Studies On The Economic And Cultural Value Of Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum which originated in China has a long history of cultivation and is widely grown across our country. Chrysanthemum is a species of flower worth deep-going studies, for it incorporates its ornamental value, food value and medicinal value in one species. In recent years, scholars across China began to attach importance to researches in chrysanthemum, their investigations covering the growth and cultivation of the plant, its relations to literature and its economic value. However, in traditional documents in China, few scholars made a systematic and comprehension analysis of chrysanthemum and very few ancient books to a checkup on the study of this plant. Nowadays , with the development of modern society , as modern people are more and more concerned about their own health and survival environment , the chrysanthemum nutritional value and medicinal value are enjoying growing favor as a health food product, in addition to its great appeal of ornamental value in improving our living conditions.With ancient people's precious instructions on growing this species of flower, modern people have a better understanding of the financial value of the plant, hence doing better in exploiting and utilizing the financial benefits of chrysanthemum on the basic of traditional concepts of utilization. We deem it as our duty to carry forward our unique culture of chrysanthemum by making a systematic survey of the way ancient Chinese people grew, ate and appreciate this plant.Thus, this paper attempts to make a systematic summary of the growth, exploitation and utilization of chrysanthemum as discussed in ancient Chinese books ; treats of the financial value of this species of flower, dwelling mainly on three aspects : medicinal value ,food value and ornamental value, and , on this basis ,expounding the exploitation and elevation of chrysanthemum culture by ancient Chinese people .The growth, utilization and appreciation of chrysanthemum not only led to the wide-spread cultivation of this species of flower, but also help to enrich people's spiritual life ,and improve people's quality of life, thereby providing new ideas for better exploiting the value of chrysanthemum, developing the industry of chrysanthemum growth, and promoting chrysanthemum culture.
