North china plain is an important area of turf application in our country with developed economy and concentrate people.Cold season grass is used in this part but with the biggest handicap of maintenance that the high temperature and high wetness in summer. Warm season grass grows in the high temperature season has the predominance of strong adaptability and easy management in summer because of its good heat tolerance,adapted growing temperature of 26~32℃.The entironment conditions that rain in hot season in North china plain is benefit for the growth of warm season grass.Compared with the buffalo grass and zoysia japonica grass,the warm season grass bermudagrass is widely distributed,with many kinds and big change in seeds.These wild bermudagrass has strong adaption and stress resistance after a long period natural choice. The leaf of Bermuda grass is thin and can be a good turfgrass,even some varieties can be used in the green of golf.Hence,by investigating,collecting,observing,domesticating and choosing the better varieties in North china plain,it is found that some of the varieties can be the mid-material for breeding.Bermuda grass is used in the North china plain as the common greenbelt and the golf grass,it not only form the the high quality turf,but also reduce the pollution caused by the plant diseases and insect pests,and elevate the water utilization ratio in summer,reduce the management cost.However,it is a sustainable development technology which save the cost and has high efficiency,and can easily accepted by the manager.It also has an important practical significance and long-term meaning to improve the seed resource building and the sustainable development of entironment.In order to select the bermudagrass materials which adapt to the climate of North China,this experiment studied on the adaptability of 4 American seeded bermudagrass varieties and 4 local bermudagrass materials in 2007,select the good visual quality bermudagrass A3,A5,C1,C3 and introduced two new varieties in 2008,studied on cold-resistance in natural low temperature based on the adaptability study in Baoding.The main results were summarized as follows:There was a great difference in the green period of the 4 American bermudagrass varieties in 2007,A5 had the longest green period to 193 days,while A4 had the shortest green period,only 145 days;Due to the difference of cold resistance property,the varieties turnning green earlier had more than 20 days in advance in the growth and development period than the others.The green period range of local bermudagrass materials was 178~189 days;C1 had reached the longest green period of 189 days.The dates turning green in 2008 were later than 2007,and A3,A5,C1,C3 had more shorter green period,The new materials C12 and C14 turning green were later than the others.Integrate the color,density,quality and uniformity of the turf,the appearance quality indexes of two yeas all showed that the American varieties have better quality than the local ones during the experimental periods,and the quality score order of American varieties in 2007 is A5>A2>A3>A4.American varieties A2,A3 and A5 had higher turf quality in summer,while A4 had slightly poorer turf quality due to the vertical growth property.The quality scores order of local varieties is C1>C4>C2>C3,Only C1 had higher turf quality among local materials.In 2008 the new introduced varieties C12,C14 has a high quality score and should have a deeper research in the condition of natural low temperature.and turf texture was the greatest factor which restrict the application of local materials.We conclude that C1 and A5 contained the highest chlorophyll than other materials through two years' study.The chlorophyll contents order of four materials which studied both years was C1>A5>C3>A3,C12 and C14 which studied in 2008 contain lower chlorophyll,while higher damage rate。The measurement of cold resistance in autumn showed:The relative conductivity of all the bermudagrass materials had a downtrend,and the sequence of the four materials average in both years was A5
