The Growth Indexes Measuring Of Nestlings And Behavior Studies Of Juvenal Chinese Merganser (Mergus Squamatus) In Capitivity In Xiao Xing'anling

An research on the change of the body weight,the body length,the wing length,the tail length and beak length of Mergus squamatus feed after rescued from birth to 30 week was conducted in Heilongjiang Bishui Mergus squamatus Nature Reserve in 2005.The results show that(1) the growth speed is more quick during the initial stages.With the increase of the age, the growth speed become slow down.The relative growth value is most quick(118.5%,82g) during the 4 week,and the absolute growth value is most quick(62.6%,354.4g).The weight growth had no significant change after the 13th week,and the pertinence of the body weight and its body length,beak length,tail length,wing length is respective 0.967,0.966,0.949, 0.943.(2) The non-linear regression equation was built by iterative analysis and nonlinear regression,y_i=129.257/(1+e^{4.052-0.655*t_i})(R²=0.992).(3) The optimization regression equation on the body weight and the four body indexes is Z=-926.810-7.466W+36.931T-11.38C+214.843H(R²=0.941).From March in 2007 to March in 2008,we make field observation in Heilongjiang bishui Chinese merganser reserve by auto- video.At the same time,we observed the behaviors for 6 sub-adults(male:3,female:3) by scanning sampling,focus sampling and all occurrences sampling methods.The results showed that:(1) major behaviors of Chinese merganser included resting,hackling feather,disputing female,precaution,playing and copulation.In all behaviors,resting is most major activity and followed by hackling feather.Feeding behavior is no significant difference among the 4 seasons.In summer,the time of playing is the longest,but is the shortest in spring.The frequency of precaution is most high in winter,but it is not significant difference in other seasons.The frequency of disputing female and copulation is most high in winter.(2) the time of resting is long in spring and summer,but is short in winter and autumn.For hackling feather behavior,its time is the longest in winter and the shortest in summer.The time of feeding is longer in autumn and spring and shorter in winter and summer.Except for these,the time of precaution behavior is the longest in winter and is shortest in summer and autumn.The frequency of playing behavior is the highest in summer and the shortest in spring.Moreover,the behavior of disputing female and copulation is infrequent in all behaviors and frequency is higher in autumn.(3) the daily activity of Chinese merganser varied among 4seasons..The peak of resting is different among 4 seasons. For hackling feather,there is a common peak in spring,summer and winter and is 1-2 peaks each season.But for behavior of playing,the peak is homology in spring and summer.The behavior of feeding is basically uniform in autumn,summer and winter.The behavior of precaution is more higher in winter than other seasons and is not significant different in other seasons.During observation,behavior of disputing female and copulation is not significant character in spring and summer.But in autumn,the peak is same and the behavior of disputing female is significant.
