In order to explore the effects of dietary sulfur levels on nutrient digestion and metabolism in Liaoning cashmere goats during the cashmere growing period. In a 4×4 Latin-square experimental design, four healthy Liaoning cashmere goat wethers aged two years old with similar cashmere yield and installed with permanent ruminal and duodenal cannulas, were used to study the effects of dietary sulfur levers(0.11%,0.17%,0.23%, 0.29%)on the metabolism of nitrogen and sulfur, rumen fermentation, digestion flows and degradation of fiber in Liaoning cashmere goats, and comprehensively analyze the effects of dietary sulfur levels on nutrient digestion and metabolism in Liaoning cashmere goats during the cashmere growing period. The feasible supplemental quantity of absolute sulfur during the Liaoning cashmere goats 'cashmere growing period was initially identified.80 healthy Liaoning cashmere goat wethers of one years old with similar cashmere yield in the last year were selected in the feeding experiment, which were divided into 4 groups at randomly and used to study the effects of adding different dietary sulfur levels towards the cashmere production performance. Finally, the feasible supplemental quantity of absolute sulfur during the Liaoning cashmere goats 'cashmere growing period was established. The results showed that:①N intake, digested N,retained N,N apparent digestibility of diet containing 0.23%S were higher than those of other diets(P<0.05).The S intake, digested S and retained S of diets containing 0.17%,0.23%,0.29%were higher than those of diet containing 0.11%S(P<0.05).②pH of diet containing 0.23%S fluctuates from 6.28 to 6.53, but the average of rumen ammonia N was the least(10.24mg/100ml).Rumen ammonia N of diets containing 0.11%S were higher than those of other diets(P<0.05),but the rumen pH decreased.S promotes rumen fermentation.③Flow rate Kp varies between 4.67%·h-1~5.21%·h-1.However,the whole groups were not affected(P>0.05).Total nitrogen flows in rumen of diets containing 0.17%,0.23%,0.29%S were higher than 0.11%S(P<0.05),but there were not difference among them(P>0.05).The total nitrogen flow of diet containing 0.23%S in duodenum was the highest. The total sulfur flow of diet containing 0.23%,0.29% in the rumen and duodenum of cashmere goats were higher than other diets(P<0.05).S promotes digestion flows in Liaoning cashmere goats.④Degradation of DM and ADF of diets containing 0.17%,0.23%,0.29%S were higher than 0.11%S(P<0.05);Degradation of NDF of diets containing 0.23%,0.29%S were higher than 0.11%,0.17%S(P<0.05).S promotes degradation of fiber in rumen of Liaoning cashmere goats.⑤ADG,cashmere growth rate, cashmere production, cashmere the length of diets containing 0.23%,0.29%S were higher than 0.11%S,0.17%(P<0.05),but cashmere fineness were not affected(P>0.05).The cashmere the length of diet containing 0.23%S in Liaoning cashmere goats was the highest.Generally, diet containing 0.23%S could promote the nutrient digestion and metabolism of nitrogen and sulfur, rumen fermentation, digestion flows, degradation of fiber and cashmere production performance in Liaoning cashmere goats. The optimum dietary sulfur level was 0.23%(N:S ratio 7.39:1) in Liaoning cashmere goats during cashmere growing period.
