With the ceaseless development of economic society and the deterioration of the environmental pollution, ensuring drinking water security has become the focus topic by the national society. In view that the traditional planning and designing of rural drinking water safety project has such many disadvantages as taking too much time, heavy workload and great influence by artificial subjective factors etc, it is important to develop a computer aided design system of rural drinking water safety project planning.Based on the development platform of relational database software Visual FoxPro 7.0, this thesis uses the OO(Object Oriented) programming method, constructs the general framework of computer aided design system of rural drinking water safety project planning, develops two modules of pipe and pump selection, which combines with concrete requirements of rural drinking water safety project planning and design. The system database manages data with multiple tables, realizes the query and maintenance, in which data is connected with the unique code between the basic information and evaluation information database.Pipe optimization module: By means of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, the system gives scientific evaluation to various pipe of the same nominal diameter which meet the requirements, sorts the evaluation score of various pipe from high to low, and obtains the suitable pipe, which provides reasonable basis for pipe optimization.Pump selection module: After using table lookup which considers four factors including pump type, flow, lift and efficiency, the system sorts according to reasonable degree, and obtains the suitable pump, then it realizes a single pump selection, which provides reference for selecting pumps reasonably. The running results show that the system is operated easily with a friendly interface, and the running speed is fast with reasonable results, which meets the command in advanced, and has a preferable practicability.
