Free air ozone concentration enrichment system with ambient level (A-O3) and 50% higher than ambient level (E-O3) was established in Xiaoji Town, Jiangdu County, Jiangsu Province, China (119°42′0″E, 32°35′5″N). In each plot, five typical varieties: Yannong19 (strong-gluten wheat), Yangmai 16 and Jiaxing002 (medium-gluten wheat), Yangmai15 and Yangfumai2 (weak-gluten wheat) were planted., the main results were as follows:1. Grain yield decreased under the treatment of E-O3. The decline in grain yield of Yangmai15, Yangnong19, Yangmai16 under E-O3 treated from elongation stage to maturity was greater than that under E-O3 treated from anthesis to maturity. The reason of the decline in grain numbers per ear was different among different wheat varieties, the main reason for Yangfumai2, Yangmai15, Yannong19 was the increase of degradated spikelet number, while for Yangmai16 and Jiaxing002 was the increase of sterile floret number. Under E-O3 treatment, grain filling period was shortened, the average filling rate decreased, and 1000 grain weight decreased, which was the main factor resulting in the decrease of grain yield.2. Under E-O3 treatment, LAI decreased from booting stage to maturity. O3 enrichment fastened the decline of canopy leaf area in the main stem and the chlorophyll content after anthesis and shortened the duration of green leaf areas .3. O3 enrichment was inbeneficial to dry matter accumulation in wheat. The dry matter weight under the treatment of A-O3 was higher than that under the treatment of E-O3, Under the treatment of E-O3, plant height at maturity, the accumulation amount of dry matter after anthesis and the translation rate of dry matter accumulated before anthesis decreased.4. Under the treatment of E-O3, N accumulation amount from elongation stage to anthesis was decreased. The effects of O3 enrichment on N accumulation amount at maturity were different among different wheat varieties. Under the treatment of E-O3, N accumulation amount, translation amount of N accumulated before anthesis and contribution of N accumulated before anthesis from vegetative organs to grains were decreased, N accumulation amount after anthesis and contribution of N accumulated after anthesis from vegetative organs to grains increased, N fertilizer production efficiency declined.5. Under the treatment of E-O3, the absorption characteristics of P were different among different wheat varieties. P production fertilizer production efficiency declined.6. Under the treatment of E-O3, the total storage capacity per unit area, the largest grain size, the greatest grain fresh weight, the fullness index decreased, grain protein content increased, and starch content decreased.
